Annual "Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World"
November 21 – 27, 2016
A new initiative led by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and
the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Thanks to a special Memorandum, these (and
other) Italian government entities have established the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World to
highlight the richness of the national culinary tradition in its many regional and cultural diversity.
The first annual "Week" features over 1,300 events, taking place all over the world from
November 21 to 27, 2016.
In Vancouver, the Consulate General of Italy, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of
Commerce in Canada West, the Italian Cultural Centre, the Vancouver Community College, Amici
Miei and Bibo Pizzeria present a number of events related to the Italian culinary tradition.

Italian Kitchen, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, invites you to a
five-course menu dinner with authentic Italian wines pairings. Prosciutto, figs, lobster, swordfish,
beef tenderloin - all served alongside house-made pasta - are just a few menu highlights by Italian
Kitchen’s Chef Maitre d’ Giovanni Trigona. This is an evening filled with delicious food and wine
that you don’t want to miss.

The Consulate General of Italy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Centre and BiBo Pizzeria,
presents this special screening of a masterpiece by the late Ettore Scola, one of Italy’s greatest
filmmakers.
“La cena” portrays an evening at an Italian restaurant. Hosted by tolerant and relaxed Flora,
various parties of middle-class people come in — large and small, young and old, regulars and
tourists, married and single — to dine, converse, argue, celebrate, make confessions. The camera
moves constantly from table to table, into the kitchen and the back room to observe the staff’s
petty jealousies and frustrations. A jewel of a film, starring Vittorio Gassman, Fanny Ardant,
Stefania Sandrelli and Giancarlo Giannini.

Piedmont Truffle and Hazelnut Dinner
Internationally recognized Chef Carlo Zarri, a maestro of Piedmont traditional cuisine with truffles
and hazelnuts, will prepare a multi-course gourmet dinner featuring: traditional tomato soup
with crab meat and truffles; fried potatoes gnocchi with porcini mushrooms sauce and truffle
flakes; home-made tajarin (thin noodles) with Piedmont truffle; beef tenderloin with Barolo wine
