❖ Ellis Island was built in 1892 that had many steps to help someone move to

❖ Luggage Storage → Placed their luggage in a room so they would not have to
carry it throughout Ellis Island
❖ Medical Exam → Doctors would make sure nobody was sick
❖ Registry Room → 29 questions were asked and if answered correctly, they moved
on
❖ “Kissing Post” → Meet family that was already in America (hugs and kisses were
given)

7. Immigration Activity
The activity in terms of Immigration that I would do
is based off my own experience that I had in third grade
when learning about immigration. We were given families
and went through a stimulation of immigrating to America.
The students would pick the country they come from,
come dressed as immigrant, and pack a pillow case with
“personal belongings” that they wanted to take with them
to America. They would then go through the school that
would be turned into Ellis Island. The personal experience
I had was long lasting and is still something that I
remember to this day from my elementary learning.

10. Mini-reflection
1. Google slides can help teachers share new digital resources and tools for learning through several ways.
As seen through this powerpoint, there are many ways to teach students through several outlets.
Teachers can use videos, graphs, diagrams, quotes and much more. This allows for a different learning
environment that can motivate and engage students to learn new things!
2. Google classroom can promote curiosity and critical examination by the teacher presenting a question
for students to explore. This allows students to converse and research information about the question
that is prompted. They then can share their thoughts through Google classroom as well which can lead to
students learning even more. With the help of Google classroom having everyone’s ideas, students can
learn more by building off their classmates ideas and elaborating more on their own ideas as well.
3. A benefit of using Google Slides is having the ability to present information in different ways. It allows
teachers to include aspects of teaching that a lecture environment would not. For instance, it allows for
graphs, videos, pictures, and much more that brings wider material for students to evaluate when
learning new things. On the other side, the downside of Google slides is that it is technology, and
technology is unpredictable. You never know when it may stop working.
