WHAT IS CHILDREN'S LITERATURE
• the body of written works and
accompanying illustrations produced
in order to entertain or instruct young
people. The genre encompasses a
wide range of works, including
acknowledged classics of world
literature, picture books and easy-to-
read stories written exclusively for
Children
• Stories that motivates kids, teaches
moral with entertainment
HARRY POTTER AS CHILDREN’S LITERATURE
• Harry’s life is shown as being a parentless, 11 years old boy
living an awful life with his Aunt and Uncle who treat him bad
• When he comes to know about him being Wizard his life gets
change
• this a traditional children literature background, a poor child with
whom we feel sympathized
• And the adventure starts which children enjoy
• We learn bravery, friendship, being honest helps etc. moral from
it
• So it becomes a moral story
• As we see in movies and
cartoons the figure of hero is
played by an “ideal” person
named as HERO but here the
wizard and witches are main.
• Here the world of wizard is like
discarded by human world in
real but in fantasy it becomes
the example in creating the
image that of ideal.
EDUCATING THE MIND
FANTASY LITERATURE
• The setting is friendly to children’s literature
• Forbidden forest : a forbidden forest in school.
• includes many magical features, giant spiders,
unicorn, and trolls.
• Hogwarts: utopia for children, new
establishment of different type of curricular
which is related to magic, the wizard world.
GOOD VS EVIL
• Good always wins over bad
• This thing repeats here
• A story of Revenge as well as
Good and truth always wins no
matter how much bad is powerful
• Same shown in tales of
Panchtantra
