  2. 2. Every time that you travel, you see different road signs and marking along the way but you are not aware of the meaning of these signs. Some may think of them as decorations while others just disregard them. Ignoring these signs may lead to crash, injury, and even death. Traffic Lights - It is a must for a individual to look at the traffic lights before crossing the streets. Look at the picture. What do these lights signify? The green light means “go”. The red light means “stop”. The yellow light means the drivers should take caution as they approach an intersection. It also means that the drivers should slow down to prepare to stop. Fences are also used to keep people from crossing the lane from one area to another.
  3. 3. Basic Road Signs School children like you must be aware of the different road signs found on the streets. You must be mindful of safety precautions whenever you cross the road or walk along the area. Road signs are employed to ensure a safe and orderly flow of traffic. These signs help in giving directions, warnings, and guidance.
  4. 4. Road Markings Road lane markings convey important messages. Just like road signs, road lane markings tell what the driver should and should not do on the road. They signify regulations for parking's and stopping. To be safe on the road, drivers must be informed and must follow the traffic rules.
  5. 5. Solid White Lines on both edges of the road mean that parking is prohibited. White Center Lines are used to separate the traffic movements on the road. Cross Walks, also known as pedestrian lanes are white lines that are used to protect pedestrian crossing the street. Motor vehicles are advised to slow down when they approaching crosswalks.
  6. 6. Road Safety Awareness The following are guidelines o road safety for both pedestrians and passengers. As a Pedestrians 1. Everyone should always use the crosswalks in crossing the street to keep you away from danger. Moving vehicles must stop and allow you to pass if your are crossing on the pedestrian lane. 2. Avoid crossing the street if you see the “No Pedestrian Crossing” sign on the street because it is dangerous. Children like you should obey traffic rules and signs. 3. Young children like you must be accompanied by an adult when crossing the street. 4. Be aware of bikers, runners, and motorcycles when walking. 5. Avoid going or passing in dark places or streets especially at night.
  7. 7. Road Safety Awareness The following are guidelines o road safety for both pedestrians and passengers. As a Passenger 1. Children below 7 yrs. old must be seated properly, secured and fastened on an approved booster seat with lap-sash seatbelt. 2. Children 13 yrs. old and below should always ride in back seat. 3. Children like you should understand the meaning of staying calm in the back seat. 4. You must follow the loading and unloading zones to keep you away from accidents 5. keep your head, arms, and hands inside a vehicle. 6. When getting our of the bus, you should hold onto the hand rail and step down slowly.
