SAP Heterogeneous Migrations
Customer would like to change either the Operating System or Database of
SAP system as part of migration
• The Source SAP system is running on a OS/DB platform that is not support
supported in AWS
• Heterogeneous Migration tools/processes: SAP Tools – R3Load
• Near Zero Downtime Migration
• Customer Downtime window and size of the SAP database to migrated play a critical
role in selecting the migration approach
• On a high level for a typical heterogeneous migration involves
• Export of data from source SAP system in a OS/DB independent format
• Shipping/Copying data to target system
• Import of exported data in to target SAP instance in AWS

 Provision compute, storage and network infrastructure for SAP HANA in less than an hour vs. weeks or

 Classic problem in SAP estates is how to increase rate of change
