All rights reserved.P U B L I C S E C TO R S U M M I T The Burden of Searching ● To find news and events, students are expected to know where to navigate on a website and find relevant content to help them engage on a deeper level. ● Universities are putting a lot of effort into creating experiences for students, but those efforts are lost if students don’t know how to engage with them. ● The burden on finding these experiences is put on the student.

All rights reserved.P U B L I C S E C TO R S U M M I T User-Centered Design ● The specific problem the application was designed around was how to create a modern digital engagement platform that is built around the student. ● Students were engaged in every step on the journey with a close tie to the student councils, student surveys, focus groups and one-on-one interviews in the student memorial union. ● This tight engagement with the students ensured we were delivering a product that fit the needs of today’s students.

All rights reserved.P U B L I C S E C TO R S U M M I T Scalable Cloud Development The ASU Mobile App was built on the most cutting-edge technologies the market has to offer. ● The code for the application itself was built in React Native and allows for mobile application to be easier to design and ported to both Android and iOS devices. ● The entire backend leverages microservice and serverless architecture built on Amazon Web Services.

Notification CMS ● Ability to allow content users to select small, targeted audiences based on user defined criteria, use geo-fence boundaries, and a scheduling calendar to sequence future communications.

Real-Time Parking Map ● The campus parking lot availability is displayed in a red/yellow/green overlay that provides real-time parking capacity information.

All rights reserved.P U B L I C S E C TO R S U M M I T Personalized Content Personalized Greeting ● Initial title display not only displays the users name but shows an image of the campus they are currently located on and specialized weather driven by their current location. Personalized Content ● All content in the application is tagged to a set of pre- defined interest groups (identified by the student population) and users have the ability to select which groups they are interested in. This dynamically changes the news and events displayed in the application.

All rights reserved.P U B L I C S E C TO R S U M M I T University Connections Personalized Schedule ● The student’s class schedule is displayed on a day-to-day format that lists the location, way- finding to the building, reminders, links to the specific LMS’, and the ability for the students to connect with others in the class. Event and Ticketing Information ● All events have location and way-finding information and functionality along with the ability to check-in. Digital ticketing is also available to allow the distribution and tracking of event information.

All rights reserved.P U B L I C S E C TO R S U M M I T Growth & Adoption Limited Communication ● There was no marketing or communication of the MVP launch and a limited scope of marketing for the version 1 launch. 12,000 stickers were handed out to incoming students and posters were displayed in freshman dorms. Quick Adoption ● When we launch the MVP in April 2018, we took over an unauthenticated app that had around 13,000 monthly users. Over the MVP launch and iteration process we were able to grow to 19,126 by the time our version 1 launched in August 2018. Since Version 1 launch, the application has grown by 255% to almost 68k users.

Engagement Metrics ● Unique users per week (we topped out at almost 25k) ● Number of average sessions per user per day (consistently right around 2) ● Average number of clicks per user per session (doubled from 12 at launch to over 25) These metrics prove we are delivering on our goal to deepen our digital engagement with students by providing personalized, timely, and actionable content. > 1,000,000 push notifications have been sent to students
