2. • Rhythm and Blues, which is known as R&B,
was founded in the 1940′s by the African
American music. R&B was predominantly for
the African American race. It was originally
called “race music” and was usually only
performed or listened to by the black race.
R&B was a combination of jazz, hip hop,
gospel, and the blues
3. Where did the genre originate from?
• R&B music originated from black Americans in
the early 1940's growing from the blues
meeting urban beats. By the 1970s, rhythm
and blues was being used as a general
comprehensive phrase to depict soul and
funk. New Orleans was one of the early
hotbeds of the music genre.
4. • When you look at how R&B used to be music wise
and how it is now they are two completely different
things. R&B and hip hop music today has a different
toll on our generation today and also has a greater
influence. In the 1950′s R&B was about good times,
with music that had lyrics with actual meaning,
content, and not just something with a good beat.
