3. Configuration ManagementAutomated provisioning and server consolidation through virtualization Challenges Addressed Power, space and maintenance costs forcing more efficient use of resources Dispersed servers and applications difficult to manage and update Key Capabilities Manage virtual machines to consolidate physical servers Provision operating systems, applications, and patches in the data center "הבנו שהטמעת Configuration Manager תאפשר לנו לנהל את תחנות העבודה והשרתים באופן פשוט ולהבין בקלות איזה תוכנות מותקנות ועם איזה חומרה עובד כל אחד" גיל קרפט, מנהל סיסטם, סימטרון
4. Enterprise Desktop Challenges Complexity of enterprise desktop management Deployment Management Security Inconsistent configurations Unpredictable downtime Overburdened help desk Decentralized management Application incompatibility Numerous software images Large-scale migration complexity Difficulty in protecting confidential data Frequent security patching Malware and viruses License noncompliance 30% - 45% of IT budget in an average enterprise goes to desktop support.1 20% of desktop TCO is IT labor; 50% is end-user self support.2 IT departments commonly spend up to 80% of resource on maintenance and operations.3
22. End To End Monitoring Proactive platform, application and service-level monitoring Challenges Addressed ERP Application IT services, applications and servers must run smoothly Increasing pressure for service levels that ensure optimal uptime and responsiveness Key Capabilities Proactively monitor availability, performance and configuration across heterogeneous platforms Perform deep application and service-level monitoring Databases Servers Web Servers Order Tracker DB DN-App1 OTW-IIS-01 OTW-IIS-02 "באמצעות Operation Manager 2007 אנחנו מסוגלים לנטר מקצה לקצה את מערכות הזמנת הרכב של אלדן, לדמות את חווית המשתמש ולקבל התרעה במידה ויש תקלה או בעיית ביצועים" כוכב ששון, מנהל אבטחת מידע וטכנולוגיות, אלדן
23. What’s new in the Exchange 2010 Management Pack? Significantly reduced alert noise Alert Correlation Exchange MP ships with a Windows service called the Correlation Engine Alert correlation uses dependencies encoded in the health model to determine the most likely root cause alert when problems occur Alerts reclassified into 3 categories: Key Health Indicator: Important service impacting issue (most alerts) Non Service Impacting: Issues that affect specific mailboxes but do not impact the larger system Forensic: Monitors diagnosticsthat may not represent a specific problem. Forensic monitors do not alert Full protocol synthetic transaction coverage Reporting Mail flow statistics reporting based on message tracking logs Service oriented reporting measures application/feature uptime, not server Exchange aware availability modeling
24. Alert Correlation Raises alerts based on monitor state change events Uses Operations Manager Health Model Only raises alerts for the lowest level failure within a 90 second window Significantly reduces noise

If there’s a significant Active Directory problem in a site hosting Exchange servers, Exchange (being highly AD integrated) will notice. In the past, each component would raise an alert indicating a problem. With alert correlation, the alerts for services dependent on AD will be correlated to the AD alert.
