3. Welcome to the second edition of the SEI Torino Forum, an
initiative we launched last year with the creation of School of
Entrepreneurship & Innovation (SEI) in Turin, Italy.
In the last 20 years we have been witnessing an increasing
role of technology in transforming the landscape of business
and society worldwide, similar to what happened during the
industrial revolutions of the past centuries but faster.
Europe is not yet at the forefront of this very important and
defining tech revolution even though it has the potential to
do so, especially in deep-tech where we think Europe is
globally competitive thanks to founders like you.
As talented entrepreneurs based in Europe, here at SEI Torino
Forum you have the opportunity to share thoughts and get
inspired from some of the most prominent global tech
leaders and learn directly from their valuable experiences.
We, as SEI, are committed to inspire deep tech talents
like you to dream big and to enable you to
build great businesses in Europe.

London, UK - Big Data & Analytics
“Co-founder and CTO of nPlan. PhD in Machine
Learning, and previously worked as a quant in macro
finance and HFT (Wadhwani, Jane Street).
Construction projects are consistently late and over
budget, due to the complexity and risk involved in
each activity. We learn from completed projects to
project the risks of future ones.”
ENTREPRENEURS

Zurich Switzerland - BioTech
“As a CEO & co-founder of Microcaps, we implement
our technology for specific drug carriers. The biotech is
used for cancer treatment or to coat implants. Driving
the industry forward, we continue to pursue a new
standard for drug development and delivery and to
aim to leave our imprint on biotech.
Advancing personalized medicine, Microcaps realizes
a future in which targeted drug delivery is the norm.
Scaling up production, our advanced tech is able to
generate size-controlled microcapsules 1000 times
faster than current devices.”

ALEXANDER MURER - Kilobaser
Graz, Austria - BioTech
“I studied molecular biology but soon decided to
found a community lab instead of finishing my
studies. There I could pursue my interest for lab
instruments which soon became my profession.
Genetic engineering requires DNA code. Most labs
today relay on out-sourced provider, slow turn-around
times delay their experiments.
That’s why we’ve built Kilobaser, the
Nespresso-machine for DNA.”
BENITO ZACCONE - Intuendi s.r.l.

“I’m interested in improving the translation of cutting
edge science from the lab to the commercial arena. I
have a hybrid background between biotech and
business. I’m the founder of IMMAGINA BioTechnology,
the first "ribosome company".
Life relies on protein factories (ribosomes) to read
genetic information encoded into RNA molecules and
to translate that information into proteins. A severe
problem today is the poor availability of efficient tools
to measure which and how many proteins are
produced in disease and healthy states.”
MATHIEU MUNSCH - Qnami

This creates a huge opportunity for Keyp. We can
capitalize on both, the identity provider and the
integrating enterprises.
KEYP MAKES TRUSTED IDENTITIES PLUG‘N‘PLAY FOR
THE DIGITAL WORLD.”
MICHAEL PEITHER - Voltstorage GmbH
Munich, Germany - Energy Storage

very time- and energy consuming. The patented
technology offered by Curratec circumvents all those
issues at once by providing on-demand curing of
storage-stable one-component monomer systems.”
NIKOS KARIOTOGLOU - Seervision AG
Zurich, Switzerland - Robotics
“I am trained as an engineer, always interested in
breadth-first over depth-first. I have a PhD in control
systems and practical experience on vision & robotics. I
come from an entrepreneurial family with
family-started business that grew to international
success. Producing high quality video out of live events
is an human and cost intensive process. We create
software that turns robotic camera systems into
intelligent autonomous cameramen that can be
directed remotely by a single operator sitting
anywhere in the world.”

PAULO REFINETTI - REM Analytics
Lausanne, Switzerland - BioTech
"The maturity of a science is given by the precision of
its measurement tools." Around this quote from Louis
Pasteur, I have built my beliefs and career. I am
engineer by training, statistician by vocation, and
biologist by necessity. Probiotics are live bacteria
being sold as having potential health benefit.
However, there are currently no clinical evidence of
their effect, or known mechanisms of action. REM
analytics enables probiotic companies to
demonstrate the effect of their products through
accurate microbiome analysis.”
PETER XIONG - ami Lab
Stockholm, Sweden - Big Data & Analytics
“Experienced machine learning engineer with a
demonstrated history of working in the Fintech
unicorn Klarna. Super curious and fast learner.

surveillance systems in cities are inefficient, expensive
and suffer from multiple blind spots. We eliminate
these limitation by building an AI based autonomous
software, controlling squadrons of micro drones that
perch on walls on demand and send live video from
anywhere in the city.”
