“Prussian Blue” is nanostructred on the electrode surface,

6. Noise-free blood pressure sensor for
application in sports medicine and
rehabilitation
Based on the discovery of under the cuff pulse wave* a new noise-free blood pressure measuring
method was developed, which is insensitive to a patient’s movements during the measurement of
blood pressure;
Innovation is patented in Russia and going through the patenting process in USA and Europe;
The idea behind this method is to place a hard plate in-between the cuff and the skin in the place
where the artery passes. The pulse wave sensor is inbuilt into the plate, the presence of which leads to
the appearance of pulse wave pressure on the side pressed against the skin, which in turn is effectively
converted into an output signal;
A model sensor of the pulse wave pressure has been constructed weighing 2,5 g and size 20х10х4 mm;
Both the model and methods have been successfully tested at the Institute for medical and biological
problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
