Welcome to our 2018 Ranking of MBA Development Programs.
We are happy to share with you our 4th annual ranking of the most
popular programs among MBAs from around the world.
There are a lot of interesting changes that happened from last year and
it’s intriguing to observe how interest of the students for different
programs changes from year to year. Besides the overall global ranking,
you can find in this Ranking analysis by industry, functional area and
school location. This year we also included information on how much
each program has gained or lost in visibility compared to last year.

What are Development Programs?
Structured, intense, and often rotational, MBA Development
Programs are fast-track programs within companies to develop
and groom high-potential MBAs for future leadership roles.
They vary a lot from one program to the next as each company
tailors its programs to its specific needs: Structure, duration,
experiential experiences, function focus, rotations, mentorship
and coaching, on-the-job and formal training, etc.
However, what all of them have in common is the objective to
shape and grow the future top leaders of these organizations,
and therefore, the rigorous selection criteria to attract and recruit
the right candidates.

Our Unique Data
We track every Development Program, worldwide. We add new
programs, archive old ones, and update current ones through monthly
manual checks, regular connections with companies, as well as on-going
automatic processes to alert us of any intermediary changes.
We have two directories of development programs:

• Amazon is still Nr 1, closely followed by Johnson &
Johnson on place Nr 2
• Siemens gains two spots from last year, now on
place Nr 3
• Danaher makes a substantial leap forward from last
year, advancing up for 26 places
• Another surprising achievement: Roche moves up
for 45 places and is now on spot Nr 10
• Two more remarkable improvements take place:
Deutsche Bank and J.P. Morgan gain substantial
ground from last year
• AB InBev switches position from Nr 3 to Nr 6
• IBM and GSK hold the rank steady at Nr 4 and Nr 5
• While some of the larger companies like Emerson
(down 4 spots), L’Oréal (down 11 spots), Medtronic

finance role taking on three demanding assignments,
