Marketing Advice For Creating Successful
Campaigns
Successful marketing campaigns. What goes into it? Something told me to ponder over
it. Yesterday, a discussion with a political blogger left me thinking about the importance
of strategy in the success of marketing campaigns.
When it comes to marketing, the most important skill is the power to create and
implement a strategy. What kind of tools are used to deliver those strategies and the
knowledge of those is a secondary thing. Alas! Many still don’t see it that way.
When the time comes to build your marketing team or to hire an external marketing
agency, let your final decision be based on who focuses more on strategy rather than
marketing tools.
If someone says that I know how to use Mail chimp, then that person is not your ideal
hire. But if somebody says I know how to do email marketing to increase your open rate.
Now, she gets all the points. 
A person who knows how to do email marketing strategically can always use tools to
implement the strategies including Mail Chimp or something else. But a person who
knows Mail Chimp can’t necessarily run email marketing campaigns strategically. 
Many people question this and still give more priority to the knowledge of tools rather
than the skill of strategic marketing. But choosing anything over strategy is going to give
you stunted growth. The reason why the knowledge of any tool should not be on your
priority is because of the following reasons:

Numerous Tools For Creating Successful Marketing Campaigns
There are tens of thousands of marketing tools in the world and having knowledge of
everything is not possible. 
Also, being dependent on just a few tools is also not very growth-oriented. Let’s say Mail
Chimp is popular right now, but in 5 years, its competitor takes over the game and
becomes the leader. What will happen now? Are you going to fire your email marketing
team and hire a new one because your criteria for hiring was based on the knowledge of
tools?
Tools Come With Free Support And Tutorial
Not to mention, all these tools come with free support and a lot of tutorial videos. So, if
tomorrow your strategic marketing team decides to use a particular tool, they can very
easily learn anything. It won’t even take a day. 
 
Tools Are Easy To Use
Additionally, these software companies who are providing these tools, also want to
attract more customers and want more people to start using their services. And for that
purpose, they are always trying hard to keep their tools as simple as they can. This is one
important reason why any of these tools is not as complex as we think and can be easily
learned when the need be.
That’s why I believe that strategic thinking is way more important in marketing rather
than the knowledge of a few tools.  A strategist is flexible enough to experiment with
various tools and change as per the demand.

Yesterday, a discussion with a political blogger left me thinking about the importance of strategy in the success of marketing campaigns. When it comes to marketing, the most important skill is the power to create and implement a strategy. What kind of tools are used to deliver those strategies and the knowledge of those is a secondary thing. Alas! Many still don’t see it that way. When the time comes to build your marketing team or to hire an external marketing agency, let your final decision be based on who focuses more on strategy rather than marketing tools. If someone says that I know how to use Mail chimp, then that person is not your ideal hire. But if somebody says I know how to do email marketing to increase your open rate. Now, she gets all the points.  A person who knows how to do email marketing strategically can always use tools to implement the strategies including Mail Chimp or something else. But a person who knows Mail Chimp can’t necessarily run email marketing campaigns strategically.  Many people question this and still give more priority to the knowledge of tools rather than the skill of strategic marketing. But choosing anything over strategy is going to give you stunted growth. The reason why the knowledge of any tool should not be on your priority is because of the following reasons:   “In life, as in football, you won’t go far unless you know where the goalposts are.”    —Arnold H. Glasgow Numerous Tools For Creating Successful Marketing Campaigns There are tens of thousands of marketing tools in the world and having knowledge of everything is not possible.  Also, being dependent on just a few tools is also not very growth-oriented. Let’s say Mail Chimp is popular right now, but in 5 years, its competitor takes over the game and becomes the leader. What will happen now? Are you going to fire your email marketing team and hire a new one because your criteria for hiring was based on the knowledge of tools? Tools Come With Free Support And Tutorial Not to mention, all these tools come with free support and a lot of tutorial videos. So, if tomorrow your strategic marketing team decides to use a particular tool, they can very easily learn anything. It won’t even take a day.    Tools Are Easy To Use Additionally, these software companies who are providing these tools, also want to attract more customers and want more people to start using their services. And for that purpose, they are always trying hard to keep their tools as simple as they can. This is one important reason why any of these tools is not as complex as we think and can be easily learned when the need be.
