  2. 2. Weighing Your Options - Before making a decision on what career decision is very important that you weigh your options. There are many different factors that go into choosing the right career, such as the work environment, hours, salary, pace, etc. Being patient in this process is key in making the right decision.
  3. 3. Job Shadowing - Job shadowing is when someone who is wanting to learn more about a certain career field or job, follows someone in that area for a day on the job to get a sense of the environment, daily tasks, and a first hand experience on what the job is demands are. This can be very helpful for a person to see if the job is one that they wish to pursue in the future,
  4. 4. Internships - Internships are a great way to learn about a specific career. There are many different types of of internships and each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Internships in general are very good for improving one’s chances of getting a job. Some benefits include, resume builders, develop professional skills, and having people to refer you to other employers can be very helpful.
  5. 5. Approaching Social Media - Social media connects the world. Anyone can see anything put out on social media. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are the most popular social media sites, they are the ones future employers will look at the most.
  6. 6. Cleaning Social Media - Employers can already see everything put out on social media. Social media can be a make- or - break when it comes to hiring. Make sure to clean out any sensitive photos or videos on your social media, so you will make a good first impression on future employers.
  7. 7. Maintaining Social Media - Make sure your social media pages are continuously kept clean and look professional. Employers make their first impression off of your social media page, so keep it neat and clean.
  8. 8. Do Your Research - Choosing a career for yourself can be stressful. To ensure you pick the best job suited for you looking at compatibility, requirements, salary can make the decision easier and less stressful
  9. 9. Know Your Career - Along with doing your proper research, make sure you know all you can learn about your career. This is something you could be doing for the rest of your life so knowing what all your career entails is very important.
  10. 10. Getting the Correct Education - Once you’ve figured out what career will be best for you finding the best path for your education to your career. Knowing how long you have to go and where would be best for you is very important.
  11. 11. Research Once you figure out what major you want to go farther in you should research what school that benefit you and your future career 1. School visit 2. School rank 3. School requirements 4. Ask upper class about they personal experience 5. Check out different programs or see if they have any for your major that can help
  12. 12. Education Once you find the school that you think is going to be best for you and your future career. Look into they education and see how good they education is and if you can get help in that University. Also look up the school history to see if the education have grew over the years or went down.

Why it’s important Research: the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and new conclusion When you research: ● You will know what the university is about ● What they have to offer ● Can you afford to go ● Activities & organizations ● Location ● WILL YOU BE HAPPY THERE
  14. 14. Dressing for Success Do wear ● Pants that fit at waist ● Loafers with dress pants or khakis ● Matching belt and shoes ● Cover or avoid tattoos
  15. 15. Interview Success ● Know what you are working with ● Start with a structure ● Practice Practice Practice ● Ace the Delivery
  16. 16. - As the old saying goes: “Perception is reality.” Think about the image you want to project during your interview and then choose an outfit that will create a positive perception and is appropriate, given the time of year, your geographic location, and the job/company/industry. Improve Self-Management Skills - Being able to manage yourself and your time is very important because in a lot of field’s, you are going to need to be able to use your time wisely because you’re going to have a heavy workload that’s going to have to be done at a certain time, you will need to be able manage more than one thing at a time.

Practicing Active Listening - Being able to listen when being spoken to is a huge skill that we should all already know how to do but in careers, youre going to have to be able to retain information and tell it back in a lot of careers. If you can have a conversation and respond intellectually for a long period of time, you have successfully used that skill.
  19. 19. Communicating with Teachers in the Field - Gaining knowledge from individuals in the field of your major can be really useful because if you have any questions about what to expect. They are always open to answer because they want students to know what it takes.
