Use of ICTs can be correlated to:
- the development of autonomy at
work, a feeling of satisfaction or a
relationship of trust between the
company and the employee,
- degraded working conditions and
psychosocial risk factors. increase in
the pace and intensity of work,
reinforcement of control over the
activity which can reduce employee
autonomy, weakening of
interpersonal relations and/or
collaborative work.

SELF-EMPLOYED WORKERS ECONOMICALLY DEPENDENT ON ANOTHER
ENTITY:
– ad-hoc module of the 2017 Labour Force Survey (european
initiative)
● In 2017, one in five of the 3.1 million self-employed people in
France were economically dependent with a client, an upstream
organisation, or an intermediary (including a digital platform)
– 4% of self-employed people are dependent on an intermediary
(including a digital platform) = 121 000 indep
– higher proportion for those who work in the transport, real estate,
and information and communication sectors.
– The exclusive use of an intermediary to access customers (which
includes digital platforms) is most prevalent in transport (16%), real
estate (16%) and information/communication (9%).

NEXT STEPS?
A european definition of platform?
Using new data:
– Data from tax administration soon available in France about income
generated on platforms
– Eurostat working group on tourism based on platform data
French legal definition : An online platform operator is any individual or legal person offering, on a
professional basis, whether paid or not, an online public communication service based on:
1° The classification or referencing, by means of computer algorithms, of content, goods or services
offered or put online by third parties;
2° Or the bringing together of several parties with a view to the sale of a good, the provision of a
service or the exchange or sharing of a content, good or service
