To whom it concerns,
I am writing to provide a recommendation for Brannon J. Carter.
I had the opportunity to work under BJ’s leadership for four years at xwave’s US division. During that
time, I witnessed the organization grow and thrive amidst a variety of challenges including competitive
threats, corporate reorganizations, and multiple corporate mandated strategy changes. BJ was the
anchor for our division, providing leadership, guidance and support that translated into double digit
annual growth and an entrepreneurial culture that valued results, client satisfaction, and employee
engagement.
As a leader, BJ was both demanding and encouraging. He demanded the excellence that he knew his
team could bring, and he rewarded results in a variety of thoughtful ways. His leadership style is based
on values – doing the right things for clients, partners and staff. He encourages collaboration and is
highly effective at recognizing the strengths of others and building high performing teams.
As a member of his US leadership team, I had a first‐hand opportunity to see BJ perform and lead in
times of success and challenge. He demonstrated a unique ability to quickly identify and understand the
salient points of a given circumstance. He fostered an environment of open and honest communication
that allowed us to challenge him and each other as we worked through complex problems and
opportunities. He recognized the strengths of his team – technical, experiential, and personal style, and
empowered people across the organization to make decisions. And in times when one or more of us
failed in a particular circumstance, he focused on learning and growing.
Finally, BJ recognizes the responsibility that comes with leadership. He sees his responsibility as not just
a corporate growth or revenue mandate, not as just stewardship of the clients and employees of the
division, but to the broader group – the families of employees and the community in which we work.
Any organization that is seeking a strong, thoughtful, dynamic leader would be well served to consider
BJ Carter. I make this recommendation without hesitation and would be happy to discuss my
experiences and views regarding his leadership style and effectiveness at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Nick Pappas
