Session 1: Van Gogh and the absence of lines
Students will learn about Van Gogh’s life, style and unique technique. They
will paint some of the artist’s most important canvases and, by the end of
the course, they will be able to paint their own master pieces in Van Gogh’s
style.

Session 2: Gauguin and the Exotic Art
Students will learn about Gauguin’s life, style and techniques. They will
experience his innovative way to use colors and to paint exotic landscape
and human figures. Children will paint on different surfaces and, by the end
of the course, they will create their own Gauguin inspired piece.

2. Session 3: Andy Warhol and the Pop Art
After two sessions dedicated to Fauvism, Impressionism and Post
Impressionism , we will face a more contemporary art movement, the Pop
Art and one of its founder, Andy Warhol. Students will learn about Warhol’s
life, style and innovative technique and they will have creating their own
pop art works, using different media and working on different surfaces.
Jan.4 - Feb.22 (8 classes)

Session 4: Jasper Johns, a journey through the Symbolism
Students will learn about Jasper Johns, great contemporary and still alive
American artist. They will experience the journey that brought him from the
Abstract Impressionism to the Symbolism, passing through Dadaism and
Pop Art. Children will have the opportunity to experience the power of
symbols and they will create their own art woks, inspired by Jasper Johns,
in which they will use symbols to express ideas, to create a friction between
their art and the reality and to provoke a reaction in the audience.
April 5 - May.24 (8 classes)

$180 ($20 per class plus a fee for supplies)

3. All the sessions will end with an Art Show and Reception that will
feature all the art works created by our little artists. The exhibit will be
held at the end of the last class of each session, at 5pm.
Spaces are limited and are first come first serve, fee is not refundable
and must be paid in full at the beginning of each session with a check
to Cely Chicurel.
