 Technical textiles are one of the faster-growing sectors of the global
textile industry.
 High-added-value textile structures are replaced with traditional
technologies.
 The efficient use of energy, materials and resources continues to be
the driver for the industrial, construction and building sectors.
 Technical textiles are textile materials manufactured mainly for their
technical performance and functional properties. 3

Textile used in building houses and Construction called Buildtech or
Buildtex.
Technical textile that are applied for construction and building.
Basically textile fibers are used with concrete to enhance its properties
and lowering the cost of protection against UV and electromagnetic
radiations.
Buildtech products have to be durable and especially strong.
 Important quality criteria are high UV resistance, strength, resistance to

 Woven fabrics are used in various fields, when compared with
knitted fabrics, they show only a low degree of elongation in both
directions.
Knitting fabric can also used in buildtech specially warp knit fabrics
because they are strong.
Nonwoven fabrics which are produced needling method preferred
because they are cheap and light-weight are applicable for buildtech.
9
Plain constructions of fabrics because of their low hairiness and strength
Warp knitted fabrics,
Needle punched fabric.
Coated fabrics for waterproofing (and also to protect sunlight and
climate change)
coated fabrics for fire resistant which they are mostly polyvinyl chloride
(PVC), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or silicone coated fabrics.
10
Laminated fabrics are preferred formed by vinyl film coating on woven
or knitted polyester and nylon fabrics.
They are cheaper than coated fabric, but the tensile strength, flexural
and abrasion resistance lower.

Textiles are light weight, easy to handling, flexibility and they provide
protection against wind, U.V radiations, snow and rain.
In architecture, textile materials proposed very fascinating degree of
independence with respect to their properties.
Present day architectures are creating room for textiles in building
constructions & revived the principle of the tent as an architectural form
and do advancement in this concept further not only in temporary
structures but also in permanent buildings.
Technical and durable fabrics permit their consumption into a highly

 The aim of these textiles is developing sensor embedded
textiles for geotechnical and stonework applications in the
field of civil engineering.
 In building construction, textiles provide an efficient
reinforcement strategy.
 This is especially common in older stonework structures that
are exposed to natural hazards.

Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support people and
material in the construction or repair of buildings and other large
structures.
It is usually a modular system of metal pipes, wooden etc.
Scaffolding is basically a temporary structure used to support labours
and material in the construction or repair of buildings and other large
structures, when performing tasks at heights above the ground.
Suitable and sufficient scaffold shall be provided for all work that
cannot safely be done from the ground or from part of the building or

 Tarpaulin or tarp is a large sheet of strong, flexible, water resistant or
waterproof material.
Traditionally tarpaulins were made out of cotton however currently
nylon and polyester fiber fabrics are being increasingly used in
manufacturing tarpaulins.
Tarpaulin is widely used for rain water protection in sheds,
transportation - trucks and other automobiles, boats, snowmobiles,
construction sites, temporary storages, tents, ground-sheets, etc.

 Hoardings / Signages are made of a glowing flexible textile substrate
called flexible-face sign fabric.
The material has applications in light boxes, exhibits, trade show
displays and majority of other static out of home advertising.
The material has the properties like light transmission, printability,
ultra violet resistance, heat seal ability, mildew resistance, anti wicking.

Technical textiles play a big role in the construction sector, providing
architectural membrane, reinforcement materials, scaffolding, and roof
finishing materials. Technical textile is more importance in building and
construction textile. Civil engineer do their constructions using different
technical textiles.
The application of technical textile to building and construction is due
to some specific properties of textile fibers like, tenacity, strength, light
weight, comparatively low cost, can and resistance to chemical plus to
