2. How do you prepare your house?
Each year, forest fires destroy
thousands of euros worth of property,
and homeowners insurance may not
cover all the damage.
If you live in an area prone to forest
fires, employ some techniques to
prepare your home for them. The
mitigation and prevention techniques
you use today may save your home when
the next forest fire is burning near you.
3. The Big Flames of Fires
Flame lengths can be as tall as two and a
half times the height of the
tree, brush, or other fuel that is
burning. For example, if the trees
around your home are 50 feet tall, then
you need to remove all of the trees
within 125 feet of your home for
optimal prevention of forest fire
damage to your home.
4. Remove all flammable
debris, such as leaves, pine
needles and branches to
decrease the chance of your
home catching on fire.
