INTRODUCTION • It is the fourth largest railway network in the world by size,with 1,21,407 km of total track with 7,349 railway stations till now . • In indian railway 49% of routes are electrified with with 25 kv Ac electric traction . • The power consumption of indian railway is around 2.5% of the country’s total electricity consumption
  5. 5. SUBSTATION •A substation is a part of an electrical generation, transmission, and distribution system. • Substations transform voltage from high to low, or the reverse, or perform any of several other important functions.
  6. 6. •Lighting arrester provide protection to all equipment against the high voltage. •They are connected between the line & ground at the substation & always parallel with the equipment to be protected. LIGHTING ARRESTER

CIRCUIT BREAKER  The function of circuit breaker is to provide opening and closing the current carrying contacts.  Electrical circuit breaker is a switching device which can be operated manually as well as automatically for controlling and protection of electrical power system respectively.
  8. 8. CURRENT TRANSFORMER  current transformer is used for measurement of alternating electric current.  It is used to moniter high current or current at high voltage.  It used monitoring the operation of smartgrid .
  9. 9. POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER  Potential transformers have a large no. of primary turns & a few no. of secondary turns.  Potential transformers are used in electrical power system for control the system voltage to safe value .
  10. 10. RELAY  A protective relay is a device which detect the fault.  It is to detect after their go to command circuit breaker.  It is provide to safety in electrical equipments.
  11. 11. INSULATOR  An electrical insulator is a material whose internal electric charge do not flow freely & therefore the current will not flow from it .  In railway use two type insulator 1) Pin type insulator 2) Suspension type insulator
  12. 12. EARTHING  In electricity supply systems, an earthing system is circuitry which connects parts of the electric circuit with the ground, thus defining the electric potential of the conductors relative to the Earth’s conductive surface.
  13. 13. REACTOR  Reactors are used in the power system network for current limiting and for compensation of reactive power.  There are two type of reactor 1) Series reactor- connected in series for current limiting. 2) Shunt reactor- connected in shunt for compensation of reactor power.
  14. 14. DO FUSE  Used to protect transformers on rural distribution network.  It is also particularly useful for inaccessible substation where induction of fusing is of advantage
  15. 15. POWER HOUSE SUPPLY  The two supplies of 11kv taken from receiving substation used two OCB.  OCB 1 – buster chambal & gudla.  OCB 2 – DRM office.  OCB is connected to the 400kva transformer that change 11kv to 440kv.

  17. 17. GENERATOR  A generator is a device that converts motive power into electrical power for use in a external circuit.  There are two types of generator – 1. Self starting generator. 2. Vaccum type generator.
  18. 18.  There is the separate sub-station to power supplying for DRM office. At the this substation 11kv supply comes from power house sub station.  That is divided into two parts, both lines passing through switches & then goes to two transformer,both transformer are delta-star connected, rating of one transformer is 250KVA.   19. 19. RAILWAY PLATFORM LIGHTING SYSTEM  All the railway platform large amount of power required for different types of electric equipment for saving power at the station sensor technique are used.  There are two types of sensor are used: 1) Light sensor 2)Train scheduler sensor
  20. 20. ENERGY CONSERVATION TECHNIQUE 1) At the railway station 40, 60 & 100W bulbs are Replaced by 20, 11, 15W CFL this also use for domestic purpose. 2) Solar panel lighting system are used at the streets and the top of the platform . 3) AC ceiling fan of 90, 60W are change by 45W fan .
