ABSTRACT
Businesses use computers for communications across a number of types of people, such as
between employees, between the business and its customers, and between a business and its
suppliers. One major advantage of computer communication is that it is often asynchronous,
which means that communication can happen even if one person is not available by telephone.
Additionally, computers can store huge amounts of data that, if printed, would take rooms and
rooms full of file cabinets (this is one way in which computers help save trees). It is also easy to
find particular data or to pull two data sets together using a computer; this would consume a lot
of time with paper records in a file cabinet. Employees who use computers can get more done
than their non-computer-using peers because both communication is easier to accomplish and
finding and using information is easier.
At first, data were collected from various external sources like Internet or Social Media. Then,
few data were eliminated and some were selected to analyze the process of preparing this term
report. For instance, useless, invalid or irrelevant data could be unnecessary thereby, these were
not selected. Data are collected from government webpages and eliminating few of these which
are unnecessary.
A modern business represents an amalgam of functions that can usually be found in several
different facilities. Apart from computers, which are a must in every contemporary office, there
should be a kitchenette, a lounge area, sometimes even a small gym. But out of all these features,
the computer is the central part of every office and work station and it also can play numerous
roles in the modern business world.
Computer is very important part of our business. We cannot think our business without
it.Without it we cannot expand our business. It is impossible to describe the role of computer in
modern business. Computer saves valuable time which is important.

CHAPTER -1: INTRODUCTION
Businesses use computers for communications across a number of types of people, such as

which means that communication can happen even if one person is not available by telephone.

of time with paper records in a file cabinet. Employees who use computers can get more done
than their non-computer-using peers because both communication is easier to accomplish and
finding and using information is easier. Another role that the computer has played in recent years
is the ability to do things easily that would have been difficult in the past. For example, in the
past, if a company wanted to produce a video, it would have had to rent or buy large video
cameras and the equipment to process video. Digital video and the software to edit videos are
much less expensive. Finally, computers allow business employees to analyze huge data sets and
to find out new information that can help with business decisions. A business where we do our
business by using internet with online. In modern business there have no requirement of space.
We can run our business with a computer. Computer helps to connect our business globally.
Computer helps to reduce paper cost in our business office.
1.1:Objectives:
-To understand the basic knowledge about modern business
-To elaborate the role of computer in modern business
-To Analysis the role of computer

CHAPTER -2: LITERATURE REVIEW
Dan Radak(2015),in the research paper “Roles of Computer in Modern Business Office” has said
A modern office represents an amalgam of functions that can usually be found in several
different facilities. Apart from computers, which are a must in every contemporary office, there
should be a kitchenette, a lounge area, sometimes even a small gym. But out of all these features,
the computer is the central part of every office and work station and it also can play numerous
roles in the modern business world.
According to Schmandt-Besserat 1981, these clay containers contained tokens, the total of
which were the count of objects being transferred. The containers thus served as something of
a bill of lading or an accounts book. In order to avoid breaking open the containers, first, clay
impressions of the tokens were placed on the outside of the containers, for the count; the shapes
of the impressions were abstracted into stylized marks; finally, the abstract marks were
systematically used as numerals; these numerals were finally formalized as numbers. Eventually
(Schmandt-Besserat estimates it took 4000 years) the marks on the outside of the containers were
all that were needed to convey the count, and the clay containers evolved into clay tablets with
marks for the count. Talking about cloud services, it would be a shame not to mention another
important advantage of the computer as a business means, closely related to the cloud. As we
witness the enormous popularity of smartphones and tablets, it is important to mention the
business use of applications.
Craig Bruce said,”Yeah, computers are going to take over the programming business because
they have become so fast recently that they can solve the Halting Problem in five seconds flat”.

CHAPTER-3: METHODOLOGY
The following chart shows the ways data are collected and implemented according to secondary
data approach:
3.1.Data collected from various external sources
Data collection means the collection of data from surveys, or from independent or networked
locations via data capture, data entry, or data logging. As we didn’t collect all data from internal
that’s why we collect data from various external sources. We go to internet and search it in
Google and find it from Wikipedia, and many website.
3.2.Elimination and selection process
Elimination means to remove data which is not important for research. And selection means to
select a data. It is very important because we find many data from internet and which is not
require for research, and find some data which is needed for our research. That’s why we follow
this process. For eliminating and selecting data we have follow some method.
9. 9 | P a g e
3.3.Analyze process
Analyzing means to research about the inputed data. By browsing the websites, we gathered
other basic information of this topic from web also visited the organization that helped us. This
research is based mainly on analysis role of computer in modern business. For our paper, we
used computer and its software like Microsoft word 13 and the internet for browsing for
information and topic relative books.
3.4.Providing recommendations
Recommendations are given to organize the report in the most useful and proficient ways to
make a person understand and expand knowledge. After collecting all the data we came to a
solution and discussed about how we can input reliable data. Innovative strategies and solutions
were given to give static results to overcome the difficulties and empower the beneficial of the
relevant topic. Later, new ideas were provided along with valid recommendations and solutions.
Some of data were obsolete and insufficient so again, the cycle goes on.All these method took a
few time and labor to organize the report in the most useful and proficient ways to make a person
understand and expand knowledge.

CHAPTER-4: RESEARCH WORK
A modern business represents an amalgam of functions that can usually be found in several
different facilities. Apart from computers, which are a must in every contemporary office, there
should be a kitchenette, a lounge area, sometimes even a small gym. But out of all these features,
the computer is the central part of every office and work station and it also can play numerous
roles in the modern business world.
THE EFFECT OF COMPUTER IN MODERN BUSINESS
The importance of computers in business includes money saved for various business activities.
For example, a small business can maintain a database of customers in its computer. The
business can then send coupons or special promotions to these customers by email. Companies
also save on paper costs when interacting through their computers. Also, a small manufacturing
company can automate part of its production line computers.
THE ROLE OF COMPUTER IN MODERN BUSINESS
In research process
The business can use the internet to search its competitors, products and prices by studying their
websites. They can also get glimpse on how costumers view their own products by reading their
costumer reviews on different websites. Communication is key when gaining and maintaining
clients and other important contacts. Computers give businesses access to email, instant
messaging and custom customer contact systems. Computerized phone systems allow for
automated support during off hours and a virtual operator can quickly direct callers to the correct
department for faster support.
In marketing process
Computers allow businesses to create websites, stunning ads and complete marketing campaigns.
Marketing videos can be edited and custom ads created in-house with the use of specialized
software. Businesses can completely develop and manage websites with their own servers or
connect remotely to a third-party business to upload their latest content such as articles, product
images and blog posts.
In storage process
Instead of filing cabinets, businesses are able to store millions of files using computers and
servers. Data can be stored centrally for easy access from multiple computers or stored locally
for individual use. Computerized storage saves space and provides a far more efficient
organization strategy. With encryption, passwords and replace keys, data remains secure.

In inventory Management system
Retail and wholesale business have increasingly come to rely on computers' advanced ability to
keep track of inventory and assist in ordering more when stocks get low. In fact, one of the
central approaches to the success of retail giant Walmart was real time ordering in which
Walmart’s computer systems place orders for goods as they are needed. This allowed them not to
carry too much or too little of any particular item as well as to save on the manpower required to
manage much of the supply chain. However, businesses of all sizes use inventory management
and point of sales systems to do smaller scale versions of the same thing.
Presentations and Documents
While it's still possible to find a typewriter at a garage sale, the days of typed papers and
documents are dead and gone. Word processing is a must in today's business environment. Not
only are computers the medium for document creation, but the ability to email and share
documents electronically has become central to the editing, approval and delivery process.
Similarly, presentations and reports are commonly delivered in electronic slide show
presentations or via webinars. Creators must use programs, such as PowerPoint, to create them as
this is the standard for modern business.
Electronic Communications
A business not involved in electronic communications -- particularly email -- closes off one of
the largest communication channels today. Customers, clients, vendors and business partners use
email to make contact and transact business. Some companies go beyond email and actually
encourage the use of in-house instant messaging as a method of communications between
employees and departments.
Internet Access
Internet access is a business' communications lifeline. Internet-enabled computing allows you to
receive orders from customers, place orders with suppliers, research businesses, explore business
ideas, communicate with government agencies and even manage your business' banking. In
addition, online presence with at least a website is critical to legitimizing a business. Many
companies go further and participate in social networking sites for marketing and branding
purposes.
Multi-site Networks
If your business has more than one site or branch, then multi-site networking provides
tremendous benefits for accounting, standardizing and managing your multi-faceted operation.
Many companies use point of sale systems to ensure standardized operations within a chain of
stores or sites. Companies that sell similar products or services in multiple locations find that

computer systems help them keep track of revenues, costs and their supply chain from a central
office. help the manufacturer cut back on labor costs.
Our field work:
For analyzing my statement i went to some business and office. Many business follow the old
process. And many business have modern business. We went 8 general stores and 4 modern
business. We give this data by researching -
In scenario General business:
Where they have no use of computer.
They use papers for collecting data. If papers are lose then the business do not find their
valuable data
Old categories business they take their decision in a positive sense idea. It is not take a
good result for business. Sometimes it does correctly.
They cannot follow the inventory management system because of lacking in computer.
They cannot save their time in a general business. Their all working system processes by
hand. From collecting information, they type a message until it is error free.
The scenario of modern business:
In modern business they use computer for collecting data.
They collect data in computer storage
They take their decision analyzing by computer
They use inventory management system
They save more times than general business.
The analysis result:
Number Example Role
1 General business
Take time for calculating
their profit and expenses in a
day
4 hour
Modern business 1-2 hour
2 Space
General business A big desk
Modern business Only a computer
Positive effects:
It saves our valuable time
It helps to reduce our work
Negative effect:
It increases our business cost.
So from this research we can say the role of computer in business very important for us.

CHAPTER -5: CONCLUSION
Computer is very important part of our business. We cannot think our business without
it.Without it we cannot expand our business. It is impossible to describe the role of computer in
modern business. Computer saves valuable time which is important.
5.1: Findings and recommendation
After researching we suggest those people who are not using for business, if you want to
improve your business condition then you have to computerized your business system, that is
called modern business
5.2: Limitations:
A work is not completely fulfill in first time, as a student of first semester we have also some
limitation in this research work.
1) In a research work everyone follows some rules. But first time we cannot follow all rules.
2) For eliminating data , a researcher follows some calculation but we cannot follow this
calculation
3) For giving some statement everyone follows many instructions but we cannot follow all
instruction
4) As we couldn’t do our research in a proper way that’s why we collect some data from
internet.
5.3. Future Work:
As we have some limitation we will do some future work. In below we give our future work
which we have done it in future:
1) As we couldn’t follow all rules then in our future research work we will follow all rules.
2) As we couldn’t follow all math for eliminating data, in our next research work we will do
it.
3) In our next research work, we will collect our all data from the field where we find it.
