SUMMARY
I'll be the first to admit it. I'm a bit of a geek. I have a passion for web technologies and programming specifically. I love well-written code. Far from being one-sided, I play the guitar, sometimes performing,
and also enjoy writing occasionally. Otherwise you're likely to catch me with a book or video-game controller in-hand.

• A proper version control (of which I have found
none better than Git) is indispensable to a team
programming-environment, and is even incredibly
helpful to a single-developer project unless you are
blessed with a photographic memory.

EXPERIENCE
Developer/Tech Support 11/2015 - Current
Self-Employed (mycrazydream.net)
o Offering an array of diverse services such as web development, mobile support, office technical
improvement, stand-alone scripts, ongoing website support and technical questions.
o Smart-phone, desktop, and laptop setup.
o Graphic design
Software Engineer 10/2014 - 10/2015
Valley Yellow Pages (www.myyp.com)
o Transformed out-of-date Visual Basic software into am MVC C#/Angular, department-independent platform. Sharing functionality between various departments became as easy
as changing a few database values. Unfortunately this took quite a bit of client-side experience. Turning a melange of VB DLLs into a cohesive SPA capable of populating itself
2. based on database configurations was no small task.
o After working in the open-source field for so long, it was good to get comfortable with developing in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft technologies of the modern
technical age.
o HTML 4/5, VB, C#, jQuery, Angular, Angular UI and Bootstrap, SQL Server, Caché ObjectScript, Visual Studio 2010,2012,2013, Vault Source Control, OnTime Sprint Resource
Management, CSS3, UX/UI
Web Developer 1/2012 - 6/2013
Contract (www.brooksransom.com)
o Multiple project site rebuilds, intent on turning either a completely static site or a site written in procedural spaghetti code into a modern, object oriented (OO) and Model-
View-Controller (MVC) web application with concurrent versions system (CVS) support, documentation, HTML5/CSS3 with an easy-to-understand and utilize content
management system (CMS).
o Brooks Ransom Assoc. (7/2012 - current, intermittent work), Safeguard Inc (10/2011-4/2012)
o HTML5, jQuery/jQueryUI, MySQL, bash, git, CSS3, PHP, SilverStripe
Web Developer 10/2011 - 12/2011
Acoustica
o Turned Photoshop mockups into browser compliant code, both back-end and front-end, as well as updating their system for Version Control and modern Web Servers and
Databases. Ultimately personality clashes brought further development to its knees before it could be sculpted toward its final work. Included here only for honesty and
consistency.
Software Engineer 9/2010-9/2011
Experian Cheetahmail (www.cheetahmail.com)
o Current project involves the conversion of the Cheetahmail application, a relic from the late 90s, to a modern web app with Catalyst handling data requests in the form of
json web services. JavaScript handles the rest of the application, including HTML-generation, through the ExtJS framework.
o Highly structured, international organization demanding many levels of code-review and Q&A, supported by a large Git repository tree, distributed servers, and a vast
Oracle database instilled in this developer an even greater attention towards details and using technology to create tools advantageous to expediency. My core tools were
Perl (CGI and Catalyst MVC Framework), Javascript (utilizing the Sencha ExtJS Framework), bash, git, and as stated previously, Oracle as the database solution. High levels
of coordination necessary to code in a team that is spread through every continent.
o HTML 4/5, Catalyst(Perl), DBIx(Perl), ExtJS(JS), Oracle, bash, git, CSS, jsUnitTester, Continuous Integration
Web Systems Manager 5/2007-4/2010
Pinnacle Promotions (www.pinnaclepromotions.com)
o All responsibilities entailed in running a large e-commerce website; design, development, optimization, marketing and management. Not only have I built the front-end
website from the ground up, including the database (meticulously parsed from many xml and csv vendor data sources) and an easy-to-use CMS, I built an entire CRM
(similar to Salesforce) that the sales force uses daily to manage contacts, projects, and leads that flow in directly from the website. Pinnacle also managed larger client
programs, and to that end I developed and maintained a web platform for easily stamping out personalized web-stores, with full ordering functionality, inventory
management and a sophisticated reporting and CMS backend.
o Eventually I came to manage a team of developers and designers devoted to utilizing Model-View-Controller methodology in the development process. Separate
Subversion repositories helped our department function efficiently with aid of a ticketing system and an internal wiki to document procedures and helpful code,
references, and strategy.
o I first started here making extensive use of JS frameworks, first picking up Protoype and adding in Scriptaculous for some of your more interesting animations and controls.
Eventually jQuery rose in popularity; once I tried it I was hooked. I quickly converted all Prototype code to jQuery and utilized jQuery UI for more robust widget control.
o Connected web orders to in-house order entry system (Filemaker Pro) to account management system (my own application build) and accounting system (Quick Books).
Before my arrival such transfers were done by the hand-off of paperwork and much redundant data-entry.
o Built a clean, normalized and quite large product database out of many disparate data sources obtained my dozens of vendors to allow for consistent customization and
web orders.
o X/D/HTML, CodeIgniter(PHP), jQuery, jQueryUI, Prototype(JS), AJAX, mySQL, sqLite, CSV, CSS, XML, Subversion
System Administrator & Production Artist 5/2005-5/2006
Signature Hospitality (www.signaturesf.com)
o Unix, Illustrator, Windows Server 2003
Web Developer 2/2005-5/2005
Decade Software (www.decadesoftware.com)
o Web development as well as prototype engineering. Contracted out to third-party customer.
o ASP, JavaScript, CSS, Visio
Web Developer 11/2002-9/2004
Loan Center of California (www.rateprice.com)
o Helped to build and maintain Pipeline, a site where employees can store, edit and retrieve client and loan data. Designed Rateprice.com, so that brokers can develop
pipelines of priced, on-the-fly loans to store and purchase on their own time.
o Built numerous in-house applets for monitoring account manager activity, sales, and marketing.
3. o Developed the server-side active scripts and added DHTML and CSS to help make the site XHTML compliant. Efficient teamwork on this project helped us meet strict
deadlines. General network upgrades such as new web and database servers, new fax servers that run analog numbers on a DSL T1 connection. Slaved faxing to all email,
printing, and scanning, allowing employees the ability to fax from anywhere with anything.
o ASP, JavaScript, SQL, X/D/HTML, CSS
o I believe it went under during the mortgage crisis – a conclusion I came to when looking up the company years later.
Senior Technician 4/1998-8/2002
The Anderson School of Business (www.anderson.ucla.edu)
o Advanced quickly, evolving from a basic technician to a department leader. Proposed and implemented various guidelines and software systems to streamline the support
process. Functioned in end-of-the-line capacity in terms of problem escalation.
o Summers saw us training the incoming students (including the Executive students) while we configured and personalized their laptops with our customer built image,
which I developed with the only other Lead technician.
o Designed our website and wallpapers for the laptop images, and made my first foray into development by converting my design into out website.
o JavaScript, X/D/HTML, CSS, Photoshop, Lead Technical Support attenuated
This resume is far from thorough in listing all of the jobs I’ve had throughout my life, as that would be unnecessarily exhaustive and irrelevant to the desired position. From
tutoring and building materials strength testing in high school to teaching English in Japan after college, I’ve had a number of other jobs. The only reason I mention them now is
for any desired explanations at any holes in my job record as listed in this CV.
EDUCATION
University of California, Los Angeles Graduated 2002
Westwood in Los Angeles, California
o B.A., History emphasis in Religious Studies
