3. PROFILE of BRIAN NYAHUMA – Band Leader
• Born and grew up in the dust streets of Kambuzuma,
Zimbabwe
• Started to grow a passion for music when was offered
a flute and harmonica by my dad
• Discovered and started to play Marimba at the age of
10 years old and was crowned twice best Marimba
player at school
• In 1998, an offer was made by the group Hohodza as
Marimba player. But it was turned down by my
parents
• Today, am an Afro-Jazz Artist and Band Leader
4. MUSICAL JOURNEY
• Recorded first single Uri Muroyi in 2004
• Launched first album ‘So They Say’ in 2007
• The second album Ndingatii Zvangu featured famous
local artists
• Third album ‘Hausi Wega’ in 2011 received a huge
air play with tracks such as…
5. MUSICAL JOURNEY
• Mandipa, Hakuna Mumwe a duet with Rute Mbangwa
and Uchandida Chete
• The video clip of song Uchandida Chete was among
the top 50 video count down for 2012
• ‘Yambirika Listen’ was the forth album to follow in
2013
• It includes a collaboration with Alexio Kawara on the
song entitled Mukana
6. MUSICAL JOURNEY
• Released new single ‘Mwenje weRudo’ in July 2015
• The song was greatly inspired by Brian Nyahuma’s
visit in Mauritius, discovering the local Sega, artists and
instruments like the ‘Ravanne’
• The new album is in progress and is
mostly inspired by love and the gift of life.
9. COLLABORATIONS
• Up to date, the Band has managed to collaborate and perform with a number of
local artists the likes of, Bob Nyabinde,Victor Kunonga, Rute Mbangwa, Alexio
Kawara, Willom Tight, Hope Masike the late Chioniso to mention only a few
• Internationally, Brian Nyahuma has performed at the World Youth Day in Zaragoza
Spain in 2011 and shared the stage with other artists and groups at the Magis Ignite
Africa Festival
• The band’s music has a lot of inspiration from some of our local great Musicians
from Zimbabwe to mention Tobious Ariketa, Biggie Tembo, James Chimombe,
Marshal Munhumumwe
