School Nickname
“Bronchos” was the nickname selected for Central Oklahoma in 1922
by Mrs. C.W. Wantland, wife of long-time UCO football coach C.W.
Wantland. The name was chosen from a number of suggestions for the
name of UCO’s football team and became the nickname for all athletic
teams at the school.
Mrs. Wantland was made an honorary member of the Letterman’s
Club as a result of selecting the nickname, becoming the first woman
admitted to that organization.
School Colors
Bronze and blue were chosen as Central Oklahoma’s school colors
early in the fall of 1895 by school president Edmund Dandridge Mur-
daugh. The first public display of the bronze and blue was in Guthrie
when a student represented UCO in the first oratorical contest ever held
in Oklahoma.

Hamilton Field House Records
Central Oklahoma plays all its home basketball games
inside Hamilton Field House, which opened its doors
on Jan. 8, 1965 when the UCO men’s team downed
intrastate rival Northeastern State 64-52.
The Bronchos have a 464-184 (.716) home record
in 51 1/2 years at Hamilton. UCO has won 292 home
games over the past 27 seasons.
Hamilton Field House was re-named from Broncho
Field House on May 1, 1993 in honor of long-time UCO
coach and athletic director Dale Hamilton, who helped
design the building in the 1960s.
The facility underwent extensive renovation before
the 2001-02 season, with new chairback seats installed
around the floor level.
Hamilton Field House is also the home facility for
the volleyball and wrestling teams and numerous other
events, including the university’s graduation ceremo-
nies, are also held in the building.

Tom Hankins is in his second
year at the helm of the Central
Oklahoma program after a lenghty
career as an assistant coach on the
Division I level.
Hankins took over the UCO
reigns in May 2015 and led the
Bronchos to a 16-14 record and
fifth-place finish in the Mid-Amer-
ica Intercollegiate Athletics Asso-
ciation last season. UCO beat two
league teams (Fort Hays State and
Nebraska-Kearney) who advanced
to the NCAA Division II playoffs
and won a first-round MIAA Tour-
nament home game before falling
in the quarterfinals.
Tom spent 18 years in the Di-
vision I ranks, serving 15 years at
Oral Roberts and then spending
three seasons as associate head
coach at Southern Illinois-Carbon-
dale before coming to UCO.
ORU captured five Summit
League championships and made
three NCAA Division I national
tournament appearances during
Hankins’ tenure there. He also
helped recruit forward Caleb
Green, who scored 2,503 points
and grabbed 1,189 rebounds
during his career while winning
Summit League Player of the Year
honors three times.
Hankins went to SIU in 2012 as
associate head coach and recruit-
ing coordinator, spending three
seasons there before coming to
UCO.
Tom was a prep standout at
Thomas Edison High School in
Tulsa, finishing as the school’s
career assists leader and earning
Tulsa World All-Metro honors as a
senior.
He went on to play two years at
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and
two years at Northeastern State,
ranking among the national lead-
ers in assists as a senior with the
RiverHawks.
Hankins started his coaching
career as a graduate assistant at
NEO and he also also stops at
Frank Phillips College, Northwest
Missouri and Tulsa East Central
High School before getting hired
at ORU.
Tom is married (Annie) and has
three children (daughters Kamryn
and Elizabeth and son Luke).

Assistant Coach
In his second year as Central
Oklahoma's assistant men's bas-
ketball coach is Cameron Hender-
son, who came to the Bronchos in
July 2015 after a highly-successful
three-year stint at Connors State
College.
Henderson helped UCO to a
16-14 record in 2015-16, with
the Bronchos tying for fifth in
the Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletics Association and making
it to the quarterfinals of the MIAA
Tournament.
Cameron spent the last three
years as assistant coach at Connors
before coming to UCO, helping
the Cowboys go 79-18 during
that span while qualifying for the
junior college national tournament
twice.
A three-time All-State performer
at Hall High School in Little Rock,
Ark., Henderson started his college
career at Connors in 2007. He was
a two-time All-Bi-State Confer-
ence and All-Region II selection
for the Cowboys before signing
with Division I Montana State.
Henderson was a two-year let-
terman for the Bobcats and then
stayed on as a student assistant
coach. He returned to Connors as
assistant coach in 2012.
The Cowboys went 24-9 in 2012-
13, followed with a 23-7 campaign
and conference championship
in 2013-14 and then had a 32-2
record this past season while win-
ning conference and regional titles.
Connors made the national tour-
nament in 2013 and ’15, advancing
to the Elite Eight this season.
Henderson recruited the 2014
and ’15 Region II MVP award
winners and 11 players signed
with Division I schools during his
tenure at Connors.

Serving in his second year as
Central Oklahoma’s graduate assis-
tant coach is Daniel Wheeler.
Wheeler helped UCO to a
16-14 record in 2015-16, with
the Bronchos tying for fifth in
the Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletics Association and making
it to the quarterfinals of the MIAA
Tournament.
Daniel came to the Bronchos
after spending the previous two
years as student assistant coach at
MIAA rival Missouri Western.
Wheeler worked three years
before that as student manager/as-
sistant coach at Northern Oklaho-
ma-Tonkawa, helping the Maver-
icks to a best-year 27-4 record and
conference championship during
his last season.
A native of Burden, Kan., Dan-
iel was a four-year standout in
football, basketball and baseball at
Central High School.

A heavy influx of newcomers has created plenty of ques-
tions for Central Oklahoma, but second-year head coach
Tom Hankins is confident the Bronchos can challenge the
elite of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Associa-
tion in 2016-17.
UCO has back just six players from last year’s 16-14 team
that tied for fifth in the league -- four returning letterman
and another from the season before along with a redshirt
freshman. Tennewplayersfillouttheroster,thoughseveral
talented transfers and some highly-regarded freshmen give
Hankins plenty of reasons for optimism.
“We’re extremely excited about this year,” said Hankins,
who took over the UCO reins last season after a lengthy ca-
reer as a Division I assistant coach. “We’ve got a lot of new
players and a handful of returners, but we feel good about
our guys and what they can accomplish this season.
“The cornerstone of this program is we’re going to defend
and rebound. We’re trying to improve and get better ev-
ery day and I think we’ve got a chance to compete with any
team in the conference.”
Leading the Bronchos are returning lettermen Corey Al-
pough, Josh Holliday, Jordan London and Garen Wright,
while Corbin Byford lettered in 2014-15 before missing all
but two games last year to injury.
Alpough, a 6-foot-5 senior forward with great leaping
ability, averaged 5.8 points and 2.9 rebounds a game last
season and more is expected of him this winter.
Holliday netted 6.3 points and 1.7 rebounds a contest as a
true freshman and the 5-8 guard should play an even bigger
role this season.
London capped his first-ever college game last year with
a game-winning trey at the buzzer and played in all 30
games with 15 starts, averaging 6.9 points and 2.6 rebounds
a game. The 6-1 sophomore sharpshooter nailed 44.6 per-
cent of his 3-point shots and will be a prime scoring threat
for the Bronchos this season.
Wright started in 18 of the first 24 games last year be-
fore going out with injury, averaging 10.9 points and 5.3
rebounds a contest. The multi-talented 6-4 junior has the
most UCO experience on the roster with 36 starts in 49 ca-
reer games and will counted on to provide crucial leader-
ship.
Byford appeared in 28 games with four starts two years
ago, netting 3.4 points and 2.4 rebounds an outing. He
missed all but two games last season to injury and the 6-6
senior is eager to get back on the court and show what he’s
capable of.
UCO’s only other returner is redshirt freshman Cooper
Clark, with the 6-1 guard expected to challenge for playing
time.
The Bronchos gained experience with several transfers,
highlighted by the addition of Division I move-in Jake
Hammond.
A 6-9 junior who lettered two years at Nebraska, Ham-
mond gives UCO a legitimate inside scoring force and
should make an immediate impact with his scoring, re-
bounding and shot-blocking ability.
The Bronchos gained three junior college transfers in
5-11 guard Demari Edwards, 6-8 forward Phil Hrncir and
6-7 forward Fadil Robinson.
Edwards is the leading candidate to take over at point
guard and is also a long-range shooting threat. He averaged
13.8pointsand5.1assistsagamelastseasonatConnorsState
while shooting 48.8 percent from 3-point territory. Hrncir
and Robinson are both capable of helping UCO out inside.
The Bronchos have two other seniors in 5-9 guard Mike
Hawkins and 6-3 forward Xavier Howard.
Hawkins came to UCO from St. Gregory’s and Howard is
a superb all-around athlete who is expected to help despite
having yet to play in a college game.
Rounding out the roster are four freshmen – 5-9 guard
Marquis Johnson, 6-3 forward Isaac Leggins, 6-0 guard
Braeden O’Dell and 6-4 forward Alex Ogunseye.
Johnson and Leggins led Putnam City West High School
to the Class 6A state championship last season, O’Dell av-
eraged 21.3 points a game at Marlow High School as a se-
nior and Ogunseye was an All-State pick at Sapulpa High
School. All four will push for playing time.
“We’ve got good depth at the guard position and are a
good shooting team,” Hankins said. “We will be unselfish
and we have a lot of guys capable of playing for us.
“Inexperience on the front line is a concern and we’re
not sure how good a rebounding team we will be, but that’s
something we’ll continue to work on. We’re excited about
the year and are eager to get started.”

2015-16 Season Review
UCO 74, Southeastern 71
DURANT, Okla. (Nov. 13) – Freshman Jordan London
nailed a 3-point shot with one second remaining to lift Central
Oklahoma to a thrilling 74-71 season-opening victory over
Northwestern Oklahoma on the first day of the MIAA/GAC
Challenge here Friday night.
It was the UCO head coaching debut of Tom Hankins
and the Bronchos gave him a win in dramatic fashion after
overcoming a 10-point first-half deficit and blowing a 12-point
second-half lead.
UCO 81, Northwestern 75
DURANT, Okla. (Nov. 14) – Cornell Neal and Garen
Wright scored 17 points apiece to lead Central Oklahoma
to an 81-75 win over Southeastern Oklahoma here Saturday
night on the second day of the MIAA/GAC Challenge.
The Bronchos trailed 65-63 with 4:57 left to play before go-
ing on a 9-1 run to take the lead for good en route to complet-
ing a sweep of the two-day classic after beating Northwestern
Oklahoma in overtime Friday night.
Neal went 4-of-7 from the field and hit all eight free throw
tries in his 17-point outing while adding seven rebounds
and five assists. Wright scored 17 on 6-of-10 shooting from
the field with a pair of 3-pointers and a 3-of-3 performance
from the line in addition to pulling down a career-high 11
rebounds.
UCO also got 12 points each from Trai Jordan and Jordan
London, with London hitting 4-of-5 long-range shots.
UCO 73, Oklahoma Christian 67
OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 17) – Free throw troubles nearly
proved fatal, but Central Oklahoma finally survived in double
overtime over Oklahoma Christian here Tuesday night.
The Bronchos prevailed 73-67 despite making just 8-of-17
foul shots (47.1 percent) in regulation. UCO made 6-of-8 free
throws (75.0 percent) in the two extra sessions.
It was the second overtime win of the young season for the
Bronchos of first-year head coach Tom Hankins, who im-
proved to 3-0.
Cornell Neal led UCO with 15 points, six rebounds and
three steals, while Kendahl Amerson had 14 points. Trai
Jordan chipped in 10 rebounds and eight points and Garen
Wright also pulled down 10 boards to go with seven points.
Southwestern 77, UCO 73
EDMOND (Nov. 24) – Central Oklahoma led nearly the
entire game before succumbing to a stunning late-game rally
in dropping a 77-73 decision to long-time rival Southwestern
Oklahoma Tuesday night at Hamilton Field House.
The Bronchos were in front for 36 of the 40 minutes and
appeared in good shape with a 73-68 lead with less than a
minute to play, but the Bulldogs reeled off nine unanswered
points in the final 47 seconds to hand UCO its first loss after a
3-0 start.
UCO 90, Oklahoma City 67
EDMOND (Nov. 27) – Jordan London scored all eight of
his points during a rapid-fire sequence early in the second half
to spark a 12-1 run that put Central Oklahoma in front and
the Bronchos went on to a 90-67 drubbing of Oklahoma City
Friday night at Hamilton Field House on the first day of the
UCO Thanksgiving Classic.
UCO was down 45-44 early in the second before London
caught fire, hitting a layup and two 3-pointers in a one-min-
ute, 24-second span as the Bronchos sprinted out to a 56-46
lead.
The Stars never responded and UCO steadily pulled away
the rest of the game in improving to 4-1. The Bronchos
outscored OCU 50-26 in the second half after trailing 41-40 at
halftime.
Southern Nazarene 79, UCO 74
EDMOND (Nov. 28) – Garen Wright had 15 points and
a career-high 15 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for Central
Oklahoma as the Bronchos fell to Southern Nazarene 79-74
Saturday night at Hamilton Field House on the second day of
the UCO Thanksgiving Classic.
UCO struggled with its long-range shooting all night, fin-
ishing just 4-of-21 (19.0 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc
in dropping to 4-2 on the season.
Wright made 6-of-14 shots with one 3-pointer and was just
2-of-6 from the line in his 15-point outing while also hauling
in 15 rebounds --including 11 on the defensive end – and
making two steals in 32 minutes off the bench.
Seth Heckart added 12 points, Cornell Neal contributed 10
points, five assists and three steals and Trai Jordan had nine
points and nine rebounds.
Missouri Southern 81, UCO 66
JOPLIN, Mo. (Dec. 3) – Central Oklahoma fell behind late
in the first half and could never quite catch up the rest of the
way in dropping an 81-66 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athlet-
ics Association decision to Missouri Southern here Thursday
night.
The game was tied 20-all with 9:23 left in the half, but the
Lions surged in front 37-30 by intermission and UCO was
forced to battle from behind the rest of the way.
The Bronchos were within four points with less than seven
minutes left before MSSU used a 9-0 run to take control en
route to handing UCO its second straight loss in the league
opener for both teams.
PIttsburg State 74, UCO 71
PITTSBURG, Kan. (Dec. 5) – Pittsburg State outscored
Central Oklahoma 8-2 down the stretch to hand the Bronchos
a tough 74-71 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Associa-
tion setback here Saturday afternoon.
UCO led by 13 at halftime and was up three at 69-66 after
Kendahl Amerson hit a 3-pointer with 1:53 left to play. A
turnover and missed shot helped the Gorillas score six unan-
swered points in taking a 72-69 lead with 17 seconds remain-
ing.
Trai Jordan made two free throws at 0:08 to pull the Bron-
chos within 72-71, but PSU answered with two foul shots of its
own at 0:06 to make it 74-71 and Garen Wright’s tying 3-point
try at the buzzer was off the mark.

Lincoln 84, UCO 79
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Dec. 12) – A second-half shooting
slump put Central Oklahoma in a big hole and the Bronchos
couldn’t quite recover in falling to Lincoln 84-79 here Saturday
afternoon.
UCO trimmed a 12-point deficit to three in the final min-
ute, but the Blue Tigers made six straight free throws down
the stretch to hang on in handing the Bronchos their fourth
straight loss.
Three of those defeats have been by five points or less as
UCO dropped to 4-5 on the season and 0-3 in the Mid-Amer-
ica Intercollegiate Athletics Association. LU improved to 5-3
and 1-1.
UCO 66, Lindenwood 59
ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Dec. 14) – Kendahl Amerson scored
12 of his team-high 22 points in the final four minutes to lead
Central Oklahoma to a streak-snapping 66-59 victory over
Lindenwood here Monday night.
The Bronchos never trailed after using a 17-5 run to open
up a 23-13 first-half lead, but needed Amerson’s late-game
heroics to hold off the hard-charging Lions down the stretch
and end a four-game losing skid.
Amerson needed just 18 minutes to collect his game-high
22 points, coming off the bench to hit 6-of-13 shots with four
3-pointers and all six free throw attempts.
The Bronchos also got 10 points apiece from Jordan London
and Cornell Neal, while Jarred Bairstow contributed 10 key
rebounds and two blocked shots.
Northeastern State 92, UCO 73
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (Dec. 19) – Central Oklahoma
couldn’t keep up with hot-shooting Northeastern State in the
second half and the road-weary Bronchos dropped a 92-73
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association decision
here Saturday afternoon.
UCO led 36-34 at halftime, but the RiverHawks made seven
3-point bombs in the final 20 minutes to surge in front and
then pull away down the stretch. NSU ended up shooting
54.5 percent (30-of-55) for the game, including a sizzling 56.5
percent (13-of-23) from beyond the arc.
It was the fifth loss in six games for the Bronchos, who were
playing their fifth straight road game. UCO fell to 5-6 overall
and 1-4 in the conference, while the RiverHawks improved to
2-7 and 1-4.
UCO made only 7-of-23 long-range shots.
Kendahl Amerson led the Bronchos with 20 points, while
Cornell Neal added 18 and Seth Heckart 10.
Northwest Missouri 78, UCO 59
MARYVILLE, Mo. (Jan. 2) – It was the tale of two drasti-
cally different halves for Central Oklahoma here Saturday as
the Bronchos fell to Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics
Association rival Northwest Missouri 78-59.
UCO built a 38-29 halftime lead behind 53.3-percent
shooting, but made just 5-of-26 shots (19.2 percent) in the
final 20 minutes. The Bearcats, meanwhile, nailed a sizzling
68.0 percent (17-of-25) of their second-half field goal tries in
outscoring the Bronchos 48-21.
Corey Alpough scored a season-high 17 points off the
bench to lead UCO, hitting 8-of-15 shots while adding five re-
bounds. Bairstow had a fine all-around game with 11 points,
five rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and two steals.
Missouri Western 77, UCO 60
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (Jan. 4) – Central Oklahoma fell behind
late in the first half and never recovered en route to a 77-60
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association loss to
Missouri Western here Monday night.
The Bronchos led 20-14 after the first 13 minutes, but the
Griffons ended the half with a 19-8 run in taking a 33-28 lead
and then scored the first 10 points of the second half to take
control.
Cornell Neal scored 21 points to lead UCO, hitting 6-of-
10 shots with two 3-pointers and 7-of-9 free throws. Garen
Wright added 15 points and six rebounds for the Bronchos,
who shot just 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the field and 27.3
percent (6-of-22) from 3-point range.
UCO 84, Emporia State 74
EDMOND (Jan. 7) – Cornell Neal and Kendahl Amerson
led a sensational first-half rally that sparked Central Oklaho-
ma to an 84-74 victory over Emporia State Thursday night at
Hamilton Field House.
Neal scored 11 points and Amerson 10 over the final 13
minutes of the opening half as the Bronchos turned a sev-
en-point deficit into an 11-point lead and UCO led by as
many as 22 in the second half before surviving some anxious
moments down the stretch.
Neal hit 8-of-10 shots with a pair of 3-pointers and 4-of-6
free throws to finish with a season-high 22 points while add-
ing five rebounds and five assists. Amerson ended up with 16
points on 6-of-9 shooting with one trey.
UCO 98, Washburn 92
EDMOND (Jan. 9) – Cornell Neal scored four points in the
final 14 seconds of regulation to force overtime and then hit
a 3-pointer early in the extra period to propel Central Okla-
homa past Washburn 98-92 Saturday afternoon at Hamilton
Field House.
The Bronchos led most of the game, but were down 81-77 in
the final seconds before Neal’s late heroics forced OT.
The Bronchos never trailed in the five-minute extra session
after Neal swished a 3-pointer from the top of the key 31
seconds in.
UCO 71, Nebraska-Kearney 61
KEARNEY, Neb. (Jan. 14) – Jarred Bairstow dominated the
opening minutes in staking Central Oklahoma to a big early
lead and the Bronchos rode a staunch defensive effort to a 71-
61 victory over Nebraska-Kearney here Thursday night.
The Australian senior scored the first eight points of the
game and had 10 points and three rebounds after four minutes
as UCO raced to a quick double-digit lead en route to its third
straight win.
The Bronchos limited UNK to 36.5-percent shooting from
the field and -- with Garen Wright leading the way -- held
scoring ace Connor Beranek to nine points, nearly 17 under
his 25.7 average that ranks second in the Mid-America Inter-
collegiate Athletics Association.

Fort Hays State 91, UCO 74
HAYS, Kan. (Jan. 16) – Fort Hays State took control early
and rode uncanny 3-point accuracy to a 91-74 Mid-Ameri-
ca Intercollegiate Athletics Association victory over Central
Oklahoma here Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers hit three long-range bombs in the opening two
minutes to grab a 9-0 lead and the Bronchos never recovered
in falling to 8-9 on the season and 4-7 in the league.
FHSU, which improved to 13-4 and 7-4, made 15-of-22
attempts from beyond the arc for a sizzling 68.2 percent while
also outrebounding UCO 32-18.
Jordan London and Garen Wright scored 14 points apiece
to lead the Bronchos, with London making 4-of-5 from
3-point range and Wright adding four rebounds.
Cornell Neal and Corey Alpough had 11 points each, while
Trai Jordan chipped in eight points and five rebounds.
UCO, Southwest Baptist
EDMOND (Jan. 21) – Cornell Neal drilled a 3-pointer at
the end of the first half to put Central Oklahoma in front to
stay and the Bronchos went on to topple Southwest Baptist 80-
69 Thursday night at Hamilton Field House.
Neal’s buzzer-beater highlighted a 15-2 run sandwiching
halftime that turned a four-point deficit into a nine-point lead
and UCO was never threatened again en route to its fourth
win in five games.
Neal led four players in double figures with a game-high
20 points, making an assortment of driving layups and short
jumpers in addition to the one trey while also dishing out six
assists and pulling down five rebounds.
Garen Wright added 15 points and three assists, Seth
Heckart had 12 points, two assists and two steals and Kendahl
Amerson chipped in 12 points and two assists.
UCO 90, Central Missouri 86
EDMOND (Jan. 23) – Cornell Neal hit the go-ahead
3-pointer and scored seven of his season-high 26 points in the
second overtime to propel Central Oklahoma to a thrilling
90-86 victory over Central Missouri Saturday afternoon at

a last-second 3-pointer from Garen Wright in forcing the first
extra session and a buzzer-beating layup from Neal to arrange
the second.
Neal was 8-of-17 form the field with two treys and 8-of-13
from the line in his 26-point outing while adding seven steals
and four rebounds.
UCO also got 16 points and five rebounds apiece from Bair-
stow and Wright, with Trai Jordan contributing seven points
and a career-high 11 rebounds.
UCO 105, Lincoln 78
EDMOND (Jan. 28) – Jarred Bairstow and Kendahl Am-
erson put on a shooting clinic to spur Central Oklahoma to
an impressive 105-78 drubbing of Lincoln Thursday night at
The twosome combined for 43 points while hitting 16-of-17
shots – including all eight 3-point attempts – and 3-of-3 free
throws as the Bronchos raced to their third straight win and
the sixth in the last seven outings.
Bairstow was a perfect 9-of-9 from the field with three treys
and 2-of-2 from the foul line in a career-best 23-point outing,
while Amerson made 7-of-8 shots with five long-range bombs
and his lone free throw in scoring 20 points.
Lindenwood 69, UCO 60
EDMOND (Jan. 30) – Central Oklahoma had a tough time
against the best defensive team in the Mid-America Intercol-
legiate Athletics Association and dropped a 69-60 decision to
Lindenwood Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.
The Bronchos struggled throughout against a Lion squad
featuring a front line that went 6-foot-7, 6-foot-9 and 7-foot-1
and shot a season-low 33.3 percent (22-of-66) from the field in
having a three-game winning streak snapped.
Trai Jordan had 11 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and five
steals to lead the Bronchos, who ended up outrebounding LU 40-
33. Cornell Neal scored a team-high 16 points with four assists.
UCO also got 11 points and seven rebounds from Garen
Wright and 10 points from Jarred Bairstow.
UCO 70, Northeastern State 66
EDMOND (Feb. 6) – Seth Heckart drained two pres-
sure-packed free throws with 14 seconds left to seal the deal
as Central Oklahoma staved off hard-charging Northeastern
State 70-66 Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.
The Bronchos never trailed, led by 14 points at halftime and
were up 16 in the second half before holding on down the stretch
for their seventh win in nine outings. Trai Jordan and Corey
Alpough had 11 points apiece to lead a balanced attack, with Al-
pough adding nine rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.
Cornell Neal, Jordan London and Kendahl Amerson added
nine points each, while Heckart finished with seven points,
four assists and two steals.
Northwest Missouri 77, UCO 61
EDMOND (Feb. 11) – League-leading Northwest Missouri
took control early and Central Oklahoma could never catch
up in dropping a 77-61 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics
Association decision Thursday night at Hamilton Field House.
The Bronchos led only once, trailed by as many as 16
points in the first half and were down 24 in the second before
rallying. UCO cut its deficit to 10 in the final minutes, but the
Bearcats ended the game with an 8-2 spurt to close it out.
Garen Wright led UCO with 16 points, making 4-of-7 shots
and 7-of-8 free throws. Seth Heckart had three 3-pointers in
scoring 11 points, Jarred Bairstow was 6-of-6 from the line in
an 11-point outing and Cornell Neal added 10 points.
Missouri Western 88, UCO 84
EDMOND (Feb. 13) – Missouri Western unleashed a lethal
second-half 3-point barrage on Central Oklahoma to rally
from big halftime hole and hand the Bronchos a tough 88-84
overtime setback Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.
The Griffons made 11-of-16 shots (68.8 percent) from
beyond the arc in the final half, hitting the last one with 2.7
seconds left in regulation to force a 76-all stalemate.
The loss ruined a sensational effort by Seth Heckart, who
made 7-of-10 long-distance shots and a pair of free throws in
scoring a team-high 23 points to go with four rebounds and
two assists. The senior sharpshooter moved into fifth place on
UCO’s all-time 3-pointer list with 210.

Emporia State 80, UCO 70
EMPORIA, Kan. (Feb. 17) – Emporia State used a siz-
zling first-half shooting stretch to open up a big lead and
short-handed Central Oklahoma never quite recovered in
dropping an 80-70 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics
Association decision here Wednesday night at W.L. White
Auditorium.
The Bronchos trailed just 22-20 after Corey Alpough’s
blocked shot led to a fast-break layup by Cornell Neal, but the
Hornets responded with a back-breaking 22-3 run during a
rapid-fire four-minute spurt.
ESU made eight straight shots – including four 3-pointers
– in stretching its lead to 21 (44-23) with 1:55 left in the half
and a furious late-game rally that got UCO within nine wasn’t
enough.
Neal led UCO with 19 points, while Seth Heckart added 13
points and three assists. Jordan London and Alpough chipped
in nine points each.
UCO 71, Washburn 60
TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 20) – Seth Heckart joined an exclu-
sive club and Jacob Strassle was big off the bench in guiding
Central Oklahoma past Washburn 71-60 Thursday night at
Lee Arena.
Heckart scored a game-high 19 points in becoming the
42nd player in school history to go over the 1,000 mark in
career points, while Strassle had a season-high 12 points as
the Bronchos snapped a three-game losing streak in the key
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contest.
UCO evened its record at 13-13 and moved to ninth in the
league standings at 9-11 while dropping the Ichabods to 14-11
and 10-10. The top 12 teams make the MIAA Post-season
Tournament, with the top four earning first-round byes while
teams 5-8 host teams 9-12.
Heckart hit 7-of-10 shots with five 3-pointers in his
19-point outing while adding three steals and two assists.
Strassle made 5-of-8 field goal attempts with a pair of treys in
addition to pulling down five rebounds and Jarred Bairstow
chipped in nine points and a team-high eight boards.
UCO 75, Nebraska-Kearney 68
EDMOND (Feb. 25) – Trai Jordan had a pair of fierce first-
half dunks off steals and length-of-the-court drives to spur
Central Oklahoma past Nebraska-Kearney 75-68 Thursday
night at Hamilton Field House.
The Bronchos never trailed after taking a 7-6 lead on a Seth
Heckart 3-pointer early in the game and led by as many as 16
in the key Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
victory.
The Bronchos had their second-best shooting game of the
season in hitting 29-of-49 field goals (59.2 percent), making
10-of-20 tries (50.0 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc.
Jordan finished with three dunks and led UCO’s balanced
attack with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting while adding a game-
high eight rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.
Heckart drained four treys in a 12-point, seven-rebound,
three-assist outing, with Cornell Neal adding 12 points and
seven assists and Josh Holliday 10 points.
UCO 67, Fort Hays State 54
EDMOND (Feb. 27) – Trai Jordan had another dominating
effort inside and Jacob Strassle scored a career-high 14 points
in a rare start to catapult Central Oklahoma past Fort Hays
State 67-54 Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.
Jordan had 10 points, a career-best 14 rebounds and two
blocked shots, while Strassle added four rebounds and two
steals to his 14-point outing in just the 11th start of his four-
year career on Senior Day.
It was the third straight win for the Bronchos, who finished
the regular season 15-13 and ended up in a five-way tie for
fifth in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
standings. The Tigers fell to 19-9 and 13-9.
UCO 94, Central Missouri 74
EDMOND (March 1) – Seth Heckart set the tone 30 sec-
onds into the game and it didn’t take long for Jarred Bairstow
and Josh Holliday to join Central Oklahoma’s 3-point party
Tuesday night at Hamilton Field House.
The Bronchos broke out of the gate quickly behind a torrid
long-distance shooting display and went on to throttle Central
Missouri 94-74 in the first round of the Mid-America Inter-
collegiate Athletics Association Post-season Tournament.
The Bronchos finished with a season-high 16 treys, shooting
55.2 percent (16-of-29) from beyond the arc and 58.5 percent
(31-of-53) overall.
Bairstow led the way with a career-high 24 points, making
8-of-14 shots with four 3-pointers and all four free throw tries
while adding six rebounds and two assists.
Holliday was deadly off the bench, hitting his first eight
shots – including five treys – and tying a season high with 21
points. Heckart was 5-of-5 from the field with four 3-pointers
and 2-of-2 from the line in a 16-point outing.
Bairstow, Holliday and Heckart combined for 13 3-pointers
and 61 points. Jordan London added 13 points, four assists
and two steals and Corey Alpough pitched in eight points and
five boards.
Fort Hays State 67, UCO 61
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 4) – A six-minute scoreless
stretch early in the second half was Central Oklahoma’s un-
doing in the quarterfinals of the Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletics Association Post-season Tournament here Friday
night.
The Bronchos missed five shots and had five turnovers
during the decisive span to see a one-point lead turn into a
10-point deficit and a late rally fell short as UCO dropped a
67-61 decision to Fort Hays State at Municipal Auditorium.
The Tigers improved to 20-9 and moved into Saturday’s
semifinals against Northwest Missouri, while the Bronchos
had a four-game winning streak ended in finishing the season
16-14.
Jarred Bairstow led UCO with 17 points, while Cornell Neal
added 11 points as the only other player in double figures.
Corey Alpough had eight points off the bench and Trai Jordan
chipped in a team-high nine rebounds and seven points.

89-year history. The Bronchos have an all-time record of 205-28
(.880) when scoring 100-plus points.
The first 100-point game in school history was a 102-56 victory
over Howard Payne on Dec. 31, 1952.

All-Conference Players
Central Oklahoma has had 76 players earn all-conference honors a
combined 122 times in the 90-year history of the program. The Bron-
chos have been members of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference
and District Nine while in the NAIA and in the Lone Star Conference
and Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association as members of
NCAA Division II.
Only three players earned all-conference honors four times during their
careers -- Bill Ballew (1947, ‘48, ‘49 and ‘50), Wesley Clark (1976, ‘77,
‘78 and ‘79) and Sam Belt (2005, ‘06, ‘07 and ‘08) -- with each being a
first-time selection three times and a second-time pick once.
Five players were three-time all-conference picks -- Otis Delaporte
(1937, ‘38 and ‘39), Larry Wood (1953, ‘54 and ‘55), Leo Holland (1956,
‘57 and ‘58), Bryce Vann (1959, ‘60 and ‘61) and Alfred Murrell (1965,
‘66 and ‘67).
