This document summarizes the development of a Real Time Operating Decision Support System (DSS) for managing water resources in the Crocodile (East) River System. The DSS was developed to [1] integrate long-term water planning models with short-term distribution models, [2] assist water managers with decision making, and [3] provide stakeholders with the latest water data and use information. The DSS determines necessary water releases and potential restrictions based on combining long-term planning and operational models with current conditions and requirements. Future challenges include coordinating role players, upgrading monitoring systems, and gaining stakeholder support for new operational concepts.
