2. Mission Statement
• I aim to create a magazine that caters for an audience who differs
significantly from mainstream and common music, and instead seeks
the lesser known, independent artists, creating for passion and not
primarily for income. I plan on selling to 16-25 year olds in general,
with a balanced or almost even male/female ratio. The magazine will
use informative language with personal touches, from both the editor
and artists, and will also provide the usual interviews, latest news and
promotions etc. There will be an atmosphere of professionalism
within what is written, along with discussions from multiple points of
view, to avoid bias. The plan is to release a glossy, colourful and
heavily written in publication once a month, appealing to an audience
most prominently through an artist’s music, clothing and personality,
which may also shape the attitude of the reader.
3. Mood Board
• My magazine will rely heavily on indie bands, incorporating rock
and alternative genre aspects to appeal to fans of slightly different
taste. Music is an escape for my audience, some may listen to a large
range of separate artists and others may prefer to follow a certain
band or two, being moulded and influenced by them. The goal is to
integrate with every side of a diverse audience, being able to
understand the world from anybody’s eyes, and ultimately catering
for whoever is interested in what my magazine has to offer.
