  2. What isTAACCCT? TAACCCT is abbreviated for:Trade Adjustment AssistanceCommunity College and CareerTrainingGrant Program.On September 26th, 2011, the Department of Labor announced Nearly $500 million in grants to community colleges around the country for targeted training and workforce development.This initiative was created to help economically dislocated workers who are changing careers.The grant supports partnerships between community colleges and employers to develop programs that provide pathways to good jobs, including building instructional programs that meet specific industry needs.
  3. IT Institute Goals & Mission • Increase attainment of associate degrees, short term credentials and industry certifications. To prepare veterans and TAA-eligible workers for the workforce. Goal 1 • Develop new credentials and enhance existing credentials through innovative and effective strategies aligned with workforce training needs. Goal 2 • Provide comprehensive support services for students from entry to employment and serve veterans andTAA- impacted workers. Goal 3 The IT Institute comprises three major departments: Digital Media, Interactive & 3DTechnologies and Internetworking Management.The mission of the IT Institute is to provide quality training and a high-tech and demand workforce.

Phase 1: Curriculum! • Digital Media Specialist Cert • Photography Cert • AAS Degree Digital Media • 3D Graphical Specialist Cert • Digital Signage Specialist Cert • Game Designer Cert • Game Programmer Cert • Interactive & 3D Tech.Cert • AAS Degree Interactive & 3D Technologies • CompTIA Basic & AdvancedCerts • MCSA SQL Server Cert • MCSAWindows 8 Cert • MCSAWindows Server 2012 Cert • MCSE Server Cert • Cyber Security Cert • AAS Degree Internetworking Management • Basic Programming Cert • Advanced ProgrammingCert • AAS Degree Software Development • Web Designer Cert • Web Developer Cert • Web Development Cert • AAS Degree Web Development • After receiving the grant, faculty began working on a model to align industry skills to core curriculum. After completing the model, several new certificates of completion and industry credentials were originated! • Certificates requirements range from 6 – 33 hrs. • December 2014 – first Certificate Ceremony, 44 certificate were presented to 28 students. • Complete a Certificate of Completion and start the job search while finishing a degree.   5. Phase 2: Equipment! Exciting equipment has been purchased to enhance learning at Butler including 3D printers, Cintiq’s, a newly completed green screen room, and Cisco telepresence equipment to be used in blended classes.

  7. Phase 3: Partnerships! The IT Institute recently aligned the curriculum for Interactive & 3D Technologies to Mind Fire @ Bethany. Student can earn a Bachelors of Arts degree in 3D computer animation from Bethany by transferring their Butler IT Institute hours.

More exciting opportunities to come… Here are just a few forthcomings: • Modified Software Development Degree • A New Photography Certificate of Completion • New articulation agreements forming • Enhanced online/blended learning • Gamification applied to online/blended learning • CISCO telepresence software utilized in online/blended learning • New partnerships with business including internships and job shadowing experiences
  9. Internship Opportunities • The IT Institute is seeking employers interested in working with students who are working on and have earned certificates of completion in specific skillsets. Secretary Perez, Department of Labor, has invested $100 million in grants to create innovate apprenticeship programs across the US.
