The #1 Strategy that you need to know to make IoT successful.

  1. 1. 1 The #1 Strategy that you need to know to make IoT successful. Patrick Strauss
  2. 2.  The proliferation of connected devices, assets & inventory is leading to an explosion of supply chain data.  This presents significant challenges to all organisations across the supply chain, around how to efficiently, cost effectively and securely: collect, access, share, store and interpret this data, to turn it into actionable intelligence that will drive the bottom line and drive/maintain competitive advantage.  Increasing demand for visibility to address key business issues, for example: product recalls; product authentication/counterfeiting; high value goods tracking; compliance; sustainability & goods and asset tracking.  Increasing availability of data from a proliferation of network connected devices – and the need for a service that interprets this data and translates it into actionable business intelligence for informed decision making  These are challenges that IBM as a Global IT Solutions Provider is well placed to address, as they are our core competencies – namely those of data capture, predictive and cognitive data analysis and collaboration. The World is changing The Internet of Things is about NEW data driving ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS to REDUCE COSTS and TRANSFORM BUSINESSES in a COLLABORATIVE way.
  3. 3. 10 Data is growing exponentially and demands new approaches (strategy and technology) By 2020, of new information will be created every second for every human being on the planet. 1.7 MB By 2017, there will be connected things in smart homes, including appliances, smoke detectors and cameras. 1B Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sees private drones growing to be a $90 billion industry by 2024

  7. 7. Developing ecosystems and partnerships Creating new business models and products Driving engagement and customer experience To succeed in the Internet of Things era, IBM believes that clients need to develop capabilities in four areas The Internet of Things is creating the potential to enable new markets and grow new revenue streams. We see this rapidly evolving market of business pushing at the boundaries of what is possible today. Clients need a strategy to harness this potential for real time actionable insight, predictive analytics and enable their digital transformation. Improving operations and lowering costs
