Project Description
Chiranjib Bhattacharjee is leading the database administration and maintenance activities of a cluster of applications of the
client, Xerox Corporations, Rochester, NY. He is responsible to consult with business and application owners, identify the
business requirements that require IT solutions, prepare models for IT solutions and present them to the client and IBM
management as proposals.
He was leading a team of Database Administrators (DBAs) who are responsible for database, development, maintenance
and administration for those applications He had lead a number of database migration projects to upgrade the database
management systems from older versions to latest versions. His DBA team is responsible for day to day monitoring,
necessary performance tuning and periodic maintenance of various database systems at client’s data centers.
He worked in customer location in USA facing customer for 2 yrs.
Project Responsibilities
My job role was to complete the smooth transition from the previous vendor of Xerox , process enhancement and new
project implementation, making all the databases SOX compliant , leveraging the DBA team across applications, handling
the Customer escalations, creating new backup policy, maintaining the DR site, building and establishing rapport with the
Customer and suggesting various methods for new enhancements and Optimization of the database. The key areas I am
working are Oracle Advance Queues, VERITAS Quick I/O, Standby Database, Unix Shell scripting, Server Migration, Oracle
11G Up gradation.
I have suggested many innovative ideas to Customer and convinced them to implement in the System. Those innovative
ideas when implemented in Production System turned Customer’s business to more profit as the total Marketing & Sales of
Xerox is dependent upon that Database.
This strong selling approach has brought high revenues for IBM which met beyond IBM’s expectation.
• Worked in Customer’s location in Rochester, New York (USA) as a Technical Team Lead and was
responsible for all day-to-day Physical & Logical DBA activities and managing a team of 10 DBA
members, both Onshore & Offshore.
• Working extensively on both physical as well as logical DBA activities.
• Apart from day-to-day DBA activities, some of key areas that I had extensively worked are ORACLE
Advance Queue, ORACLE ASM technology, ORACLE Flashback, maintenance of ORACLE Standby

backup being done by other Vendors.
• Implemented Oracle Flashback technology to recover mission critical database corruption within minutes
and even without any outage or very less outage than traditional database recovery.
• Periodically performed databases refreshes/databases duplication of Test, Development & QA databases
from Production RMAN backup files to sync with Production data.
• Applying CPU/PSU patches quarterly to all the Production & Test databases.
• Responsible for Disaster Recovery, recovery from logical database corruption created by
users/applications.
• Implementing logging & monitoring as Security Policy in the database. Implementing the strategy of
database auditing so that unauthorized access to the Production database can be monitored and tracked.
