Activity #1 - Active Research
(15 minutes)
So you want to be an Administrative Assistant?
• Direct students to the Job Websites Handout on
the DACC Career Services web page
• Have students search for Administrative
Assistant job openings and take notes on the
following: Employer name and type of industry,
job duties, skills, education, and other
requirements

Activity #2 – Cooperative Groups
Analyze and Discuss Findings
(10 minutes)
• Break students into small groups and compare notes
• Circle any commonalities such as skills, education,
job duties, etc.
• Discuss the different types of industries looking to
hire Administrative Assistants

Activity #3 – Whole Group Discussion
(15 minutes)
• Each group reports on its findings
• Instructor will write a list of common skills and
requirements on the board based on group findings
• Engage students in discussion by asking questions
about their research and findings.
• Guide them to make the connection between the job
description and tailoring their resume to fit the job
description.
