3. Technology Debt
Over the past decade, the enterprise technology stack
has increased dramatically in complexity and cost to
upgrade. Teams managing this stack are also
organized in silo’s which add to the complexity and cost.
Annual spend to address application and infrastructure
currency have been redirected to other areas of the
business. This has created a compounding affect,
turning a multi-million dollar annual problem to a billion
dollar epidemic.
A new approach is required to “uplift” the existing
technology, processes and team structure to stop
compounding this current issue.

I’d like to introduce you to Cisco OpenStack Private Cloud -- an on-premises solution that gives you a public cloud experience in your own data center.
Exponential growth of data and devices is all driving demand in DC
Todays IT Dept. was not built to handle thi demand of growth and fast change.
What has worked well in the past for most Enterprises - virtualizing workloads for Systems of Records (e.g. ERP, CRM, Finance, Client Server), in which IT delivered applications in a highly governed process like ITIL because apps were directly tied to the underlying infrastructure - meaning if the infrastructure fails, the application fails.
No longer holds true for the new cloud native applications driving IoT, Big Data, Analytics and Content Distribution, or the new class of developers building these new applications.
Developers today want a more agile landscape that allows for continuous integration, and not locked down or restricted
This new cloud native landscape should be 100% self service where resources are allocated and consumed via consistent open and available API’s in an automated fashion - not via Administrators.
And finally, this new application landscape must be able to support the hyper scale and hyper distribution we covered earlier
We can do all of this with…
Our Enterprise Data Center and Cloud Portfolio …with Cisco and our partners offering products, solutions, and services that span all the domains from data center to cloud and edge/IoT.
To transform the Data Center, we enable a policy-driven infrastructure built around ACI, the programmable fabric, and the programmable network and delivered by our core trio of Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus, and Cisco ONE., extend ACI policy-driven application profiles to automate provisioning of security in the data center, and ensure ACI becomes TrustSec aware providing software defined segmentation in the data center, and simplifying the provisioning and management of secure access to network services and applications
With Cisco ONE Enterprise Cloud Suite, which includes Cisco Intercloud Fabric, Cisco offers the next step in cloud software necessary to help you move into private and hybrid clouds by securely expanding your IT assets beyond your premises while maximizing deployment choices, control, consistency, and compliance.
When it comes to cloud, we offer a broad range of consumption models including cloud managed and public cloud options. Our portfolio offerings range from Cisco OpenStack Private Cloud (a new way of building and using your private cloud infrastructure with management from the cloud) to Cisco and Partner cloud services from the Intercloud, a globally connected network of clouds built by Cisco and our partners that delivers you unparalleled choice with compliance and control.
And finally, as you move to the edge and the Internet of Things, Cisco Connected Analytics allows you to make the most of the intelligence inherent in all the data, from the data center to the edge. Cisco’s connected analytics strategy, sometimes referred to as Data Analytics 3.0, leverages our cloud, application delivery and emerging software defined infrastructure to push data analysis capabilities to the network edge.
Additional Note: Cisco Connected Analytics gives organizations the tools to take on this data challenge directly. Each analytics package is designed to give organizations across industries access to real-time information, predictions, and trends that can have an immediate impact on their business. In conjunction with Connected Analytics, we offer data virtualization, sophisticated data analytics consulting, and data science services. All three offerings integrate seamlessly across Cisco infrastructure to help you instantly capture, analyze, and interpret critical data at the network edge.
Cisco OpenStack Private Cloud is a proven, highly effective solution to meet the objectives of both IT and end users/developers within LOBs.
This infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offering delivers a reliable and programmable infrastructure for your application development and operation teams while providing a public cloud experience behind your firewall, on your premises, and with full remote management.
If your customers like the public cloud, they'll love Metapod. The foundation of Metapod is remote cloud engineering and operations resources that become an extension of the customers infrastructure teams. The Metapod engineering and operation teams have the deep knowledge and expertise in helping companies deploy private clouds, in your customers datacenter. The subscription service includes the full lifecycle management and support of the private cloud.
Metapod is delivered in a Software as a Service model making consumption for the customer very easy and low risk. The Metapod service starts with jointly developing a design and architecture, with your customer, that is right sized for their private cloud needs. Once the customer agrees on the design and the server and networking hardware is installed, the Metapod remote operations team installs Metapod, in the customer datacenter.
After the installation is complete, the customer is left with a fully operational private cloud environment, with the public cloud like look and feel, ready to host cloud native applications in their own datacenter. As the customer consumes Metapod, IT infrastructure teams can rest easy knowing their private cloud is fully supported 24x7, proactively monitored, and backed by service level agreements of four 9’s. This is something AWS does not offer.
Metapod platform upgrades and enhancements are included as part of the subscription providing the feature velocity of public cloud without the customer taking on the work and risk associated with updating their own cloud. As your customer scales their Metapod private cloud environment, the Metapod operations team will help your customer with capacity planning to ensure they always have the capacity they require to meet the demands of the business. And, just like public cloud, Metapod just works!
This white glove subscription service lets customers truly experience the benefits of an Openstack private cloud with quick time to market and without the need to invest in expensive engineering resources. How would you like to tell you customer they could have an AWS experience in their own datacenter, fully operational, in 2 weeks!
Users, developers and Dev/ops teams want a predictable, easy and fast private cloud solution.
With Cisco OpenStack Private Cloud, there are no noisy neighbors. The architecture precisely fits your apps and your environment and it just works. It’s integrated with your existing tools and has open, well-documented APIs.
It offers instant provisioning of resources, and consistent and reliable performance.
This slide expands on the previous slide’s theme about what developers need. Specifically the idea is to point out that these are the tools they are currently using (and/or want to use), and that Metapod enables all of it.
Administrators need control, reliability and visibility -- three things that are difficult to get in a public cloud, and a challenge with traditional virtualization platforms.
With Cisco OpenStack Private Cloud, we give administrators the ability to manage and govern their users, their groups, their projects. They get full control over their quotas, VM images and flavor types, and provide security policies and authentication that can connect back to their existing platforms.
We give them the availability, monitoring and SLAs that their businesses expect, along with historical and real-time reporting.
