  20. 20. NEW YORK MINUTE About the author: Bob Mayer up in the Bronx, New York City; graduated West Point, served in the Infantry including leading a recon platoon in the First Cav Division, and then Special Forces (Green Berets), commanding an A-Team and other assignments. 21. 21. NEW YORK MINUTE Author’s Note: After a number of years writing science fiction, I am returning to my roots in the thriller genre. Will Kane represents my most intriguing character to date, a flawed man, with a deep moral code, much like many of those I served with. I’ve surrounded him with a recurring cast of characters with their own strengths, flaw and secrets. I’m very excited to be launching this series. And for those who’ve read my earlier Green Beret books, you’ll be happy that Dave Riley, the protagonist of that series is Will Kane’s cousin and makes an appearance in this book as a 17 year old. BTW— the next Riley book, Old Soldiers, will be out 9 December 2019.
  22. 22. NEW YORK MINUTEEyes of the Hammer (Green Berets) Stephen Coonts: “A scorcher of a novel. Mayer had me hooked from the very first page.” Lost Girls (The Cellar) Publishers Weekly: “Excellent writing and well-drawn, appealing characters help make this another taut, crackling read from Mayer.” Cut Out (Green Berets) Kirkus Reviews: “Sinewy writing enhances this already potent action fix.” The Journal of US Special Operations: “This is one book you can trust.” Bodyguard of Lies: “Heart-racing, non-stop action that is difficult to put down.”—Mystery News WEB Griffin: “Exciting and authentic. Author Mayer, a Green Beret himself, gave me a vivid look at the world of the Army’s Special Forces. Don’t miss this one.” The Assembly Magazine (Association of Graduates, West Point): “Mayer brings an accurate depiction of military life to this book which greatly enhances its credibility.” The Line (Shadow Warriors) Publishers Weekly: “Mayer has crafted a thriller in the tradition of John Grisham’s The Firm.”
