My name is David Seilstad

• I work with the Iowa 4-H Program
• I serve as a 4-H Program Specialist in
  Region 17
• I have served in the Iowa 4-H Program for
  over 25 years beginning first as a
  Volunteer and then as a 4-H Staff Member
Your club was selected as
one of 50 clubs from
across Iowa
   This assessment will take about
       30 minutes to complete
What will we be asking?
• You will be asked a few questions about
  the citizenship, leadership, communication
  and learning skills that may have been
  influenced by your participation in 4-H
• The information you provide will help 4-H
  Staff and volunteers working in partnership
  with youth, to develop fun, exciting and
  educational 4-H learning opportunities for
  Iowa‟s young people.
I need to ask each of you
if you are willing to
participate in this self
assessment today.
  If you agree to participate today, please
 sign the 4-H Club member Verbal Assent
   form that I have provided each of you.

     If you will not be participating today,
     please mark NO and we will provide
    something else for you to do outside.

handing out a form for you
to use as we continue.
This form has some questions about
  citizenship, leadership,
  communication and learning skills.
• It is not a quiz.
• This is not a test.
• You are just being asked to share how
  much you believe that 4-H has influenced
  what you think and what you do related to
  citizenship, leadership, communication
  and learning.

• We will first talk about since you have been
  involved in a 4-H Club, how have you been
  influenced to think and do about the skill or
  practice
• Then I will ask you to think of before you
  joined 4-H how did you act and think about
  the skill or practice
I will ask you the questions
   and you will mark your
   response
• For each question on the document, I will begin by
  saying,
• “AFTER participating in 4-H, how much does your
  behavior show you can…”
• I will then complete the question with phrases that
  describe different citizenship, leadership,
  communication, and learning behaviors/practices.
• After I have completed the question, you will be
  asked to circle the number that best represents
  your level of agreement with the given question.

  • 1. Welcome to the 4-H Self Assessment of Citizenship, Communication, Leadership and Learning Skills
  • 2. My name is David Seilstad • I work with the Iowa 4-H Program • I serve as a 4-H Program Specialist in Region 17 • I have served in the Iowa 4-H Program for over 25 years beginning first as a Volunteer and then as a 4-H Staff Member
  • 3. Your club was selected as one of 50 clubs from across Iowa This assessment will take about 30 minutes to complete
  • 4. What will we be asking? • You will be asked a few questions about the citizenship, leadership, communication and learning skills that may have been influenced by your participation in 4-H • The information you provide will help 4-H Staff and volunteers working in partnership with youth, to develop fun, exciting and educational 4-H learning opportunities for Iowa‟s young people.
  • 5. I need to ask each of you if you are willing to participate in this self assessment today. If you agree to participate today, please sign the 4-H Club member Verbal Assent form that I have provided each of you. Mark YES. If you will not be participating today, please mark NO and we will provide something else for you to do outside.
  • 6. Please turn in your form and for those that will participate, I will be handing out a form for you to use as we continue.
  • 7. This form has some questions about citizenship, leadership, communication and learning skills. • It is not a quiz. • This is not a test. • You are just being asked to share how much you believe that 4-H has influenced what you think and what you do related to citizenship, leadership, communication and learning.
