BASTILLE WEBSITE HOMEPAGE
Bastille are an alternative band who are similar to Dog Is Dead. This is why
 I am going to analyse their home page to hopefully gain some inspiration
              for when I create my homepage for Dog Is Dead.

Clicking onto the link to enter the actual website, we are greeted by images and numerous links to
numerous pages. The images can be identified with the music video for the single „Flaws‟ and
they change every few seconds which give a lively feel to the website. There are also links to the
facebook, twitter, soundcloud, youtube and tumblr pages of the band. This is a way for the band
to connect with their fans and to promote their music.




The bands logo is the main feature in every picture and is always in white, which stands out on top of
any picture. This also links to the face makeup of the girls, and the message that is supposed to be
portrayed by this makeup is that everybody has flaws and these girls are “embracing” theirs.
After clicking on a few of the tabs at the top I was sent to different pages corresponding. For example when
clicking on „NEWS‟ I was directed to the band‟s facebook page where I could find all the latest news in
regards to the band. When I clicked on „LIVE‟ the page loaded (with the triangle symbol used in Bastille‟s
logo) and then showed a list of date and places where the band was performing. From here people can
book tickets or share the link onto their facebook or twitter page. This allows the band to use their fans for
online promotion




                                              Another fact to note is that on every page there is a link for the
                                              viewer to buy the new single.
Clicking on the links „PHOTOS‟, „MUSIC‟ and „VIDEO‟ I was shown the album covers and music
videos as well as behind the scenes pictures of band rehearsing and filming for these videos. These
links allow the viewer to listen to more of the band‟s music and to also “get to know” the band.
▵ On the website there is also a link „SIGN UP‟ where the audience can sign up
  for newsletters for news about the band. This will include news about the
  bands performing whereabouts as well as when new music is coming out.
▵ There is also a link for „CONTACTS‟ where it lists the contact details for the
  band. This is very useful for radio stations or TV shows who would like to
  interview the band.
▵ Two more links that are very useful in promoting the band‟s music is „MIXTAPE‟
  and „STORE‟ which both show the type of music that the band make. It is also
  a way of making buying the band‟s music really easy and quick.
▵ The link „TRIANGLE TOUR‟ is very unique. When you click on it is directs you
  to a picture of a map which pin points where the band is going to be performing
  on their tour. This gives fans the chance to see the band perform and this way
  of showing them where the band is going is simple and very creative.
REVIEW OF THE WEBSITE
▵   I think this website is very easy for anyone to navigate their way around. The link are
    labelled clearly and there isn‟t too much going on on the website for someone to be
    distracted
▵   I think that it is very unique and creative and that very effective in the way it
    promotes the band and allows the audience to buy the band‟s products
▵   One thing I did notice is that without the links for „VIDEO‟ and “PHOTOS‟ the viewer
    would not be able to know the band members, as all the pictures on the website
    page are pictures from the music video. I feel that this is a common theme with
    alternative bands and something I will definitely take on board when I am making a
    homepage for Dog Is Dead.
▵   Another thing I notticed was the digipak covers of the band never have pictures of
    them on the front. They are always unique pictures, that may have something to do
    with the video or the title of the song. This is another thing I will regard when
    choosing images for my digipak for Dog Is Dead.
