The effects that this could have on unemployment benefits and claims cannot be overstated. It’s our job as elected officials to make sure that the health and safety of Georgians is not being jeopardized unnecessarily in exchange for Georgians to be able to survive financially during these troubling times. We would like to have a formal rule or advisory opinion from your office to answer the following questions: 1. Will a Georgian who fears for the safety of their lives and the lives of those they may reside with because of this pandemic still be able to obtain and continue to receive unemployment benefits if they refuse to go to work? 2. If not, please detail why not, what mandatory precautions your office is putting in place for employers to follow to protect the health and safety of their workforce and how will it be enforced? 3. If so, what will be the specific requirements, if any, needed from the employee to make sure there is no unnecessary delay in processing their claim? and 4. If so, what are the procedures from your office to make sure there is no unnecessary delay in processing claims using their health and safety as a valid excuse? Your thorough and expeditious responses to these questions would be greatly appreciated as I continue to get calls from anxious constituents. Please let me know if there is any clarification that is needed in order to give me these answers. Thank you for your time. Yours in Service Always, /s/ Ms. Dar’shun Kendrick State Representative House District 93
