West Boylston Public Schools, West Boylston, K-5:2009-15; 9-12: 2015-16
Health and Physical Education teacher. Main responsibilities include the
design and implementation of rigorous units/lessons that motivate
students to pursue life long health and physical fitness, design curriculum
materials and a variety of assessments that reflect a student-centered
approach to learning utilizing hands-on and activity-based learning, apply
differentiated instruction methods, direct and model students in a
broad range of activities to help develop physical skills, implementation of
a marathon running program for K-5 students and the organization of a
student-led wellness fitness fair including community groups and health
professionals.
French River Education Center, North Oxford, MA 2009-present
Graduate course instructor. Main responsibilities include designing and
implementing 3 credit Graduate level courses for general education teachers,
guidance counselors and behavior specialists, create syllabi which are
approved through Worcester Sate University for several courses including
Yoga and Brain Gym Parts I and II, Yoga, Brain Gym and Mindfulness,
Making the Connection: Yoga and Mindfulness and Fitness for PE, and use
various methods of formative and summative assessments during the course.
Southbridge Public Schools, Southbridge, MA 1995-1997
Health and Physical Education teacher, grades K-5, 9-12. Main responsibilities
included planning, preparing and organizing materials using the Michigan
model as a base, effectively differentiating instruction and providing
individualized support, ensuring all students were able to succeed, utilizing
effective classroom management, working closely with Southbridge Police
Department to revise D.A.R.E. program in the lower elementary school,
successfully organizing a 3-mile run/walk for SPS, and developing individual
training programs for obese and at-risk teens.
BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
KYA Fitness, West Boylston, MA 2009-present
Owner and trainer of a professional boot camp and personal training center.
Main responsibilities include keeping a varied schedule with approximately 15
rigorous classes per week plus personal training clients, focusing on
wellness, clean eating, injury prevention and improving functional strength,
helping clients achieve new levels of health and wellness due to improved
body image, healthier eating and fitness habits and sense of empowerment,
hosting several weight loss challenges and nutrition workshops throughout
the year.
COMMUNITY AND FAMILY OUTREACH
2012-2105-Tough Mudder Event. Organized obstacle race in conjunction
with West Boylston Police and Fire Department and Clinton Savings Bank
to raise money for less fortunate students and their families in the West
Boylston school district. Funds were used to supply holiday gifts and
clothing for approximately 30 families.
2011-2015 –Turkey Feast Collection. Organized turkey donations, partnering
with the West Boylston Police and Fire department to provide Thanksgiving
Dinners for less fortunate students and their families. Donations were also
given to Joseph’s Project-a local, non-profit organization that delivers food
to families in need year-round.
2011-Family Network Group. Formed group comprised of Principal, guidance
counselor. West Boylston Chief of Police, school nurse and teachers with
the goal of tracking students and families who faced financial burden,
severe medical issues and homelessness. Money raised from Tough Mudder
event was allocated to fund this group and assist several local families.
2009-2012-Turkey Trot. Organized a community-wide walk/run to obtain
PE equipment and a rock wall, partnering with the West Boylston Police
and Fire Department and local newspapers and businesses for advertising.
