18th-20th January 2011
The Armed Forces Officers Club
Abu Dhabi, The United Arab Emirates
Dear Colleague,
Is it your priority to fully understand and acquire first hand insight into the logistic
requirements, future procurements and upcoming programmes for the UAE Armed Forces? Is
it important for you to meet key decision makers and logistics Commanders from UAE GHQ, to
better understand and tailor solutions to their most pressing logistical challenges?
If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then please read on...
After conducting in depth research with key military leaders, officers on operational duty
and senior representatives from the defence industry, one point was reiterated again and
again. You recognise the strategic and economic potential of the United Arab Emirates but you
are not always certain on how to tailor your products and solutions to this growing regional
power.
As the only focused defence logistics conference in the entire Middle East Region, Defence
Logistics UAE has built upon its years of experience to bring together key UAE GHQ decision
makers and the World's leading military logistic organisations, all under one roof.
Providing three days of networking opportunities with military and Government customers
from the UAE GHQ, US Air Force Materiel Command, UK MoD, USCENTCOM, USTRANSCOM,
Danish Defence Command, Finland Materiel Command...to name just a few of the participating
organisations, Defence Logistics UAE provides the only opportunity for participating military
representatives to benchmark logistic strategies, systems and requirements with industry
representatives.
If you recognise the importance of the UAE market, if you understand their commitment to
military growth but require the finer details of such a strategy, then you should attend
Defence Logistics UAE.
I look forward to seeing you in January.
Yours sincerely,
Tom Upchurch,
Director, Defence Logistics UAE 2011

5 Key Benefits of Attending the Best
Practice Through Life Focus Day:
1 Learn how to ensure that the use of facilities,
services, tools, spares and manpower are
optimised to maximise product availability
2 Develop strategies and systems to optimise
resources whilst minimising whole life costs
3 Innovative approaches that encourages the use of
standard and shared resources where appropriate
4 Building the necessary support infrastructure for
each product
5 Developing a detailed maintenance plan that
determines probable repair tasks and identifies
the right resources to achieve reliability and
maintainability
Rationale:
Extensive research has shown that the cost of acquiring modern military
equipment is small compared to the whole life cost of supporting and maintaining
these critical assets. These costs are not only felt in financial terms but also extend
to the manpower and skill base requirements that are necessary to support them.
Ensuring that these assets are cost effectively maintained and ready for
operational deployment is not only critical for future mission success but it will also
have a huge impact on the overall cost of ownership. This is why it is so important
for you to invest more in the development, production and management of all
newly procured equipment. If you can refine your processes and adopt best practice
now, then you can start to save millions from your department's overall budget.
The Best Practice Through Life Management focus day will bring you case studies
that demonstrate how to wisely invest throughout the full life of modern military
equipment. Each presentation will examine different stages of equipment cycles
from acquisition and procurement through to implementation and maintenance.

  • 3. 3Register online at www.defencelogisticsuae.com or call us at +971 4 364 2975 5 Key Benefits of Attending the Best Practice Through Life Focus Day: 1 Learn how to ensure that the use of facilities, services, tools, spares and manpower are optimised to maximise product availability 2 Develop strategies and systems to optimise resources whilst minimising whole life costs 3 Innovative approaches that encourages the use of standard and shared resources where appropriate 4 Building the necessary support infrastructure for each product 5 Developing a detailed maintenance plan that determines probable repair tasks and identifies the right resources to achieve reliability and maintainability Rationale: Extensive research has shown that the cost of acquiring modern military equipment is small compared to the whole life cost of supporting and maintaining these critical assets. These costs are not only felt in financial terms but also extend to the manpower and skill base requirements that are necessary to support them. Ensuring that these assets are cost effectively maintained and ready for operational deployment is not only critical for future mission success but it will also have a huge impact on the overall cost of ownership. This is why it is so important for you to invest more in the development, production and management of all newly procured equipment. If you can refine your processes and adopt best practice now, then you can start to save millions from your department's overall budget. The Best Practice Through Life Management focus day will bring you case studies that demonstrate how to wisely invest throughout the full life of modern military equipment. Each presentation will examine different stages of equipment cycles from acquisition and procurement through to implementation and maintenance.
