Cable Laying for Motor in Chowtuppal
• In Choutuppal Observatory water is being supplied by a 5HP Motor
• At present, it is being operated from the local municipality supply
which is given long back for the people staying there.
• Now, the people are not staying there and all are farmlands.
• Now, this line gets frequent interruptions due to various reasons.
• When the crop gets over, the local farmers are burning the crop residues.
Being the line is overhead, due to heat, the line is getting damaged.
• The line was erected long back around 20 years back. So, the strength of the
overhead line deteriorated.

• As the population over there got shifted, we cannot rely on the present
free supply. So, there is a need to give a permanent connection from
the main building supply. But we will connect an automatic
changeover switch such that the switch will normally get connected to
the free supply. When it gets interruption, it gets changed to the Main
building supply. Later on, our technicians will reach there, check the
problem and solve it.

Cable Laying for the Street Light poles
(Phase -1) in front of Cyber Building
• The present cable for Street Lights was laid around 30 years back
• Now at various places, the cable is getting damaged due to weather
conditions
• As per the CPWD norms, the underground cable’s life is also 20 years
• In the Institute as well quarters total of 197 Poles are there
• This work will be taken in a phased manner. The first phase is taken up for
the street light poles in front of the cyber building
• As the present connections are at the ground level, while gardening, water
enters these connections and damages the terminals with rusting. So,
junction boxes need to be placed around 3 feet height from ground level so
that connections will be safe. It will convenient for the staff also to work at
that height.
• In the places where the cable is healthy, new boxes will be utilized and
work will be taken up departmentally.

Cable laying and renovation of the main
panel for the cyber building
• The switchgear system installed in the cyber building is around 30 years old
• Now the life of the cable as well as switchgear is about to be over. If we
don’t replace the cable, it may get fail at any time in the future
• Distribution renovation work will be taken up departmentally with the help
of procurement of the required items as and when required
• The cable which is available with us will not be sufficient for laying the
cable to this area because the distance is so long from the electrical section
to the cyber building and technically joints are not preferred while laying
underground cable.
• If joints are there, there will be a high chance of failure of the cable, so there
is a need to purchase the cable.

Renovation of quarters wiring (Type-1 Quarters)
• The existing wiring system in the quarters is damaged a lot. So, the
insulation of the wires is deteriorating day by day exponentially
• Now there is a high chance that due to insulation failure of the wires,
they get earthed with walls and give the electric shock to the occupants
of the quarters
• As rewiring of the complete quarters will not be possible at a time, it
will be taken up in a phased manner.
• As a first phase, type -1 Quarters are taken up as these quarter’s wiring
got damaged a lot.

Mains renovation in Extension Building
• In Extension Building, the main panel and its switches got outdated,
and need to replace that old panel and switches with new ones.
• As per the CPWD norms, the life of an LT/HT Switchgear is 20 Years.
Previously this switchgear was fixed during the construction of the
Extension Bulding
• So, there is a need for replacement for these switches and the panel.
Only material needs to be procured and work will be done
departmentally.
