Current Interests
Integrated Constructed Wetlands [ICW]
I have a continuing interest in the ICW concept. Currently ICWs can be a very cost effective of
dealing with pollution from domestic septic tanks. A paper illustration how this can be applied to
septic tank systems was published in The Engineers Journal in Marsh 2012. Currently a number of
these systems are being constructed.
In 2010 the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government published a guidance
document for the use of Integrated Constructed Wetlands for Farmyard Soiled Water and
DomesticWwastewater Applications. This document is available on the Departments website.
"THE RIVERS DODDER & PODDLE
MILLS, STORMS, DROUGHTS AND THE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY".
Over the past nine years I have written this book with Michael Corcoran. It gives a history of
the mills on the rivers and the Waterworks at Bohernabreena
together with anecdotal stories associated with the rivers. This will
be published in November 2015.
