Mid-Year Assessment Data
While only mid-way through the school year, scholar growth is
already impressive:
– Math
• Children increased from 3% to 51% “on track” in math1
• 56% of our scholars have grown by 1 year or more during
the first half of the school year1
– Reading
• Scholars have increased from 33% to 82% on track in
reading1
• 54% of our scholars have already grown by 1 year or
more1
– State Test
• 85% of our scholars are already on track to pass ISTEP, the state

1Measured by i-Ready’s nationally normed assessments in reading and math. Scholars must
show 40 points growth in reading and 60 points in math in order to show 1.5 years growth.

PLA School Model
PLA was awarded 10 charters from the Indiana Charter School Board,
the most in the state’s history, to launch a network of schools that
will serve nearly 10,000 children. Building on over 20 years of
experience in raising student achievement, the PLA school model has
the following pillars:
– Exceptional teachers and school leaders
– Expanded learning time
• Longer school year (225 days vs. 180)
• Longer school day (8 hrs. vs. 6)
– Best-in-class academic curricula and enrichment classes
– Use of technology to complement teacher instruction
– Use of assessment data to ensure all children succeed
– Partnership with parents
