Evaluation
In this project I have learnt many skills such as Problem Solving, Professional
Practise and Technical Skill. I have made a tv advert and radio advert which I
am very happy about. First of, I did some research and this helped me
massively to gather ideas for the project. One of the videos which helped me
was the Nuffield Health advert because it showed that you need to make a
difference to get a better lifestyle. This motivated me to do a motivational
video to get people engaged in exercise.
After completing research, I conducted an audience research survey where I
could get more information and how the audience of this project acts. On one
of the graphs, it showed the majority exercised often however a minority
exercised less and I wanted to make these people exercise more.
From the survey that I did to gather some research, I did a focus group to
gather additional feedback to get more of an insight into my audience.
After this, I made a presentation for my pitch and showed it to a group of
people. This included my ideas, how my ideas are backed up and what the
video/radio advert will look like.
After producing my pitch, I started the pre-production phase and this included
scouting sheets, location forms and contributor forms. I filled all of these out
and made sure all was ready for the production phase.
I started the production phase first by going to the college gym and shooting a
good few shots for my production. I took a fair few shots to play around with
them and choose which shots are the best and which could be improved in
post-production. I noticed when I got back from recording and one of shots
was very shaking so I improved on this and used a tripod and this seemed to be
a lot better than using the camera handheld. I experimented and viewed the
different shots that I took and took out the best ones which I used in my final
edit of the project.
I got some more shots for my production and experimented them in premiere
pro. One of the problems I had is that the music was too loud and Saul’s voice
was not very clear. To fix this, I turned down the background music and turned
up the audio and trimmed the audio of the clips.
I got a lot of feedback for my production and one of the key points that I got
from my feedback was Saul’s voice not being clear enough. As talked about, I
changed this and this made the video a lot better.
The other key feedback was to improve on one of the clips because it was very
windy and the clip was very pixelated. I improved on this by re-shooting the
whole shot again and making sure that it was not pixelated and you could hear
Saul clearly.
I think my project has met the brief because I have picked the theme about
being fit and it targets a younger audience to be fit to enjoy a better lifestyle. It
also promotes the company (Better Health) as it is said in the radio advert and
the logo is shown at the end of the television advert.
From doing this project, I have learnt that I need to have better time
management and give myself more time to shoot and film a longer video. I
have also learnt essential adobe audition features and also premiere pro
features too and this helped my skills and produce both productions.
