  2. 2. On the future of LLL: the UOC’s visionHow will lifelong learning be ? Education headed towards a personal learning cloud paradigm Support, skills training, and professional guidance Educational model focused on the collective construction of knowledge and open to the educational,social and work experience of students Teaching goes beyond transferring content. On developments of LLL in HE systems Digital competences understood as elements that go far beyond the ability to use the ITC as a tool are considered key competences for lifelong learning.* New Technologies are a key element to achieve the personalization, flexibility and traceability lifelong learning requires. Digitalization of the university should be one of the main structural reforms to be undertaken. Technologies such as artificial intelligence or blockchain are essential to achieve scalability, access, customization, attention to diversity and collaborative dynamics. University must guarantee the connection between the different clusters among which knowledge is generated and distributed. The need to train new professional profiles as well as to reskill and upskill existing ones requires establishing a constant dialogue with the productive sector, employers and the labour market. *Council Recommendation of22 May 2018 on key competences for lifelong learning Considering the fact that shorter term training is needed, micronization should go hand in hand with micro- credentials that make it recognizable by employers and at the same time transportable and traceable by the student. Universities should incorporate this vision of an itinerary that goes from vocational training to the most specialized research. Integrating different training needs is fundamental in order to design a portfolio and to provide an orientation that answer to such needs.
  4. 4. On the role of Open Universities in LLL Universities are at a crisis right now. When we come back from Covid I hope we don’t stare at each other and say “my God we could have done this over zoom”. We have to make the classroom count. I hope universities will become places of action, creation and impact.
