Is Assassin’s Creed Rogue a clone of previous instalments?

CLONE OF PREVIOUS INSTALMENTS?
2. What’s this all about?
The norm in the gaming world seems to be a two-step procedure:
a) Find a formula which appeals to gamers and critics,
b) And stick to the formula and milk it to the max by releasing
various sequels and pre sequels.
There are some very good examples of this formula working out
and equally some dismal ones where it went belly up. Ubisoft
looked like they had broken the mould with their Assassin’s Creed
series.
However, while playing their latest offering you can't help the
overwhelming sense of Déjà vu…
3. Plot
This time around Abstergo - the modern day Templars - are
looking into the memories of a different protagonist called Shay
Patrick Cormac - an assassin operating in the bygones day of the
French-Indian wars.
Cormac is a headstrong individual with a strong distaste for
authoritative figures. To quell his wild streak, the assassin's
brotherhood tasks Cormac with hunting down a Templar cell
which is closing in on pieces of Eden. What transpires after is quite
absorbing and immersive...
4. Gameplay
Remember the Deja vu feeling mentioned earlier? Gamers who
have played Black Flag will definitely feel the full swing of it. Like
the previous instalment, the missions and naval aspects albeit
being in charge of a different vessel are broadly similar.
However to the credit of Ubisoft, they have put in the effort to
provide some variance to the proceedings.
The new ship is outfitted with some new and interesting goodies.
Our pick is the fortress smashing mortars because we remember in
the previous game how much annoying taking out a fortress was!
There's also the ice-breaking, ship-sinking battering ram which is
fun to use.
5. Verdict
Though it may seem you are playing Black Flag again with a well
woven twist in the plot, Rogue has enough substance to create its
own identity.
Avid fans of the series will be in familiar waters with the game
mechanics, while new gamers to the series will be absolutely
smitten by it.
