Keir Osborne
“I went into the course with
no back-end development
experience whatsoever and just
a little bit of front-end
experience. After completing
the course I found a full-stack
Ruby on Rails development job
almost immediately.
”
Keir now works at Survival
International
Michelle Brideau
“At Makers Academy, we
learned to code by spending as
much time as possible actually
coding. We pair-programmed,
worked on group projects and
got a lot of practical experience
about being a developer.
”
Michelle now works at Sky
Tim Boeckmann
“I have wasted so many
hours looking for people with
the right technical skills. Makers
Academy has given me two
solutions to this problem.
Firstly, I can build a sample
product capable of proving a
viable idea. Secondly, finding
these skilled developers is
easier now I understand the
development process.

First-hand experience
Forget rote learning and slow progress. You'll be
learning from world class developers and
immediately implementing the concepts into your
own projects. Be prepared to drink from the
firehose.
Pairing
Students spend most of their time pair
programming, meaning two people working
together on the same code base. Pairing is a
fantastic way to learn new concepts and studies
have shown developer output to increase when
developers pair program.
Community-driven classroom
During your hands-on training, we invite engineers
from top tech companies to guide you. You'll be
learning while simultaneously networking with key
members in the technology community.
Project-based work
While the first half of the course focuses on the
fundamentals of Web Development and the Ruby
Language, the second half focuses heavily on
students creatingreal-life projects. You will leave the
course with at least 3 complete pieces of work for
your portfolio, as well as a bulging Github account.
