Designed and implemented lessons, units, and assessments for multiple grade levels and
subject areas, including collaborative activities, technology-based lessons, and projects.
Offered two new courses: AP Calculus AB and Quantitative Reasoning. Provided
innovative lessons to Quantitative Reasoning by structuring the class around daily
collaborative real-world problems sets, bringing in local community members to teach
the national Junior Achievement Personal Finance program, and by developing and
teaching a PBL unit on nanoscience in collaboration with Purdue University.

Accomplishments
FIRST Robotics: Founded and mentored three FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams. Over
thirty middle and high school students participate in practices and competitions. The team has
hosted an Open House and two annual regional scrimmages, won awards at competitions, was
awarded a 3D printer, and volunteered with other teams. Funded by Alcoa Howmet grant of
$10,000 over two years and $1000 grant Woodrow Wilson Third Year Teaching Grant.

2. Grants: Brought in just under $10,000 worth of grants and funding, including $5500 for
classroom set of Chromebooks through Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship
Microgrant; $1200 for classroom set of scientific calculators through Donors Choose; $1000 for
classroom supplies from Research Goes to School nanoscience class.
Junior Achievement: Hosted Junior Achievement’s Personal Finance program funded with $500
from Unity Foundation and presented by community members who work in business and
banking.
Nanoscience PBL: Worked with Purdue University’s Research Goes to School to implement an
innovative problem-based learning project on nanoscience in Quantitative Reasoning.
Textbook Adoption: Participated in math department’s textbook adoption during their transition
to one-to-one with Chomebooks.

Mentor for a team of 40 high-school students that builds a large robot for competition in a
six-week time frame. Dean of the student training program and lead mentor for MOEbile
Pit Crew. Member of the team and Pit Crew as a high school senior.
