A history of innovation
Even before Flavour Makers was born, the Cester family enjoyed extensive experience in the Australian food
industry. Starting with an innovative and popular poultry and game offering, their combined passion for food
soon turned to value-added meats, fresh patés, pre-baked pizzas, fresh and filled pasta varieties and a wide
variety of prepared foods. Before long, time-poor consumers across the country were turning to Flavour
Makers foods for delicious dinner time options.

the fresh retail sector. Since inception, our culinary focus and

From humble beginnings, today Flavour Makers offers a
comprehensive range of value adding and flavour systems
for fresh meat and poultry retailers, bakeries, as well as fresh
seafood retailers.

food development and manufacturing solution. We work
in partnership with our customers, adding value to every
phase of a project cycle starting with insight discovery, right
through to manufacturing and fulfilment.
Our key operational facilities consist of a state of the art
culinary development centre, a dry blending facility, a liquid
processing plant (hot-fill) and a retort plant capable of
processing both liquid and solid ingredients. These three
processes can be used individually or in combination to
produce an endless array of product possibilities.

  • 6. 1992 1994 1997 2001 2004 2005 2006 2007 Operating out of his garage, Adrian Cester began selling spices to the retail butcher and poultry trade. Michael Foran joins Adrian as partner. Flavour Makers moves into a small 1500 sqft factory. John Cester joins Flavour Makers. Flavour Makers now occupies four factory units. Flavour Makers moves into purpose-built 15,000 sqft site. Flavour Makers acquires its first retail brand, Chutney Mary. In partnership with Chris Doutre, Passage Foods is formed. Chutney Mary is rebranded as Passage to India and gains national ranging. Flavour Makers USA is established in Connecticut, NY. Passage Foods in ranged with US retailers (currently listed in 3000 stores). Flavour Makers builds Australia’s first culinary development center. First wet- plant is commissioned. Passage to Thailand is launched. A history of innovation Even before Flavour Makers was born, the Cester family enjoyed extensive experience in the Australian food industry. Starting with an innovative and popular poultry and game offering, their combined passion for food soon turned to value-added meats, fresh patés, pre-baked pizzas, fresh and filled pasta varieties and a wide variety of prepared foods. Before long, time-poor consumers across the country were turning to Flavour Makers foods for delicious dinner time options. Over 20 years of consistent growth with an ever growing investment in our operations, products and people.
