Objectives At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to: a. define pronouns; b. identify pronouns; c. appreciate the use of pronouns in our daily lives and d. use pronouns correctly in sentences. Methodologies Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity A. Preliminary Activities 1. Prayer Let us stand. ________, kindly lead the prayer. 2. Greetings Good morning, class! 3. Checking of Attendance Class monitor, is everybody present today? 4. Drill Learning Task No. 1: “Tongue Twister” Let us first have this activity to exercise your tongue’s muscles. I’m going to read this in slow, moderate and fast speed. After that, you’ll have to do the same. - By the teacher - By the group - By individual Is it clear? Our father… Amen. Good morning, Teacher! Yes ma’am. Everybody is present today. Yes, it is! (The students will do the activity) Betty bought butter But the butter was bitter So Betty bought another butter To make the bitter butter better.   3. 3. Did you enjoy our game? 5. Review Learning Task No. 2: “Pick Me” Now, we are going to have a review on what we have tackled yesterday. Do you still remember what is it? Then, what was our lesson yesterday? Very good! Since you still remember our lesson yesterday, let’s have an activity, it is called “Pick Me”. I posted an apple tree on the board and you are going to pick an apple that has an example of modals written on it. And after that, make a sentence using the modal that you picked. Is it clear? Did you enjoy the activity? Yes, we did! Yes, we do! Our lesson yesterday was about Modals! Yes, it is! (The students will do the activity) (students’ answers may vary) Yes, we did!
  4. 4. B. Motivation Learning Task No. 3: “Conan’s Case Closed” Now, let’s play a game, it is called “Conan’s Case Closed”. Hiro and Moana are looking for the things they possessed. Help them to find those things for 2 minutes. C. LessonProper 1. Activity Learning Task No. 4: “Jumble Bee” This time we will be having another activity, it is called “jumble bee”. I prepared three envelopes containing words and you are going to arrange them to form a sentence. The first group who will arrange the right sentence will be the winner. Go to your respective group. 1. Analysis The reason why we do such things today is to lighten us up. Because I’m going to teach Cases of Pronouns. (The teacher will start teaching the lesson which is Cases of Pronouns using the things that used in learning task number 4.) Cases of Pronouns Pronouns have three cases: subjective, objective and possessive. (The students will play the game) Group 1: 1. I love eating healthy food. 2. You are so dedicated to your work. 3. We love eating nutritious foods. Group 2: 1. Jenny offers me a refreshment. 2. Christine saved her from drowning. 3. The gift that arrived is for them. Group 3: 1. The pencil is mine. 2. The crayons are ours. 3. That beautiful voice I heard from the recorder is hers. Cases of Pronouns Pronouns have three cases: subjective, objective and possessive.
  5. 5. A. Subjective Pronoun Subjective pronouns act as the subject in the sentence. Examples I love eating healthy food. In this sentence, the subjective pronoun is I . It is the doer of the action and used in first person singular. You are so dedicated to your work. In this sentence, you is the subject. It is the one being talked about in the sentence. It is in second person singular but sometimes, it could also be used as second person plural. We love eating nutritious foods. The subjective pronoun in the sentence is we. It is in first person plural form. B. Objective Pronoun Objective pronouns act as the direct object, indirect object or object of the preposition in the sentence. A direct object answers the question “what” or “who.” An indirect object answers the question “to whom” and the object of the preposition is found after prepositions like to, for, etc. Examples Jenny offers me a refreshment. The pronoun, me, is the indirect object in the sentence. It answers the question “to whom”. It is in first person Singular. Christine savedher from drowning. A. Subjective Pronoun Subjective pronouns act as the subject in the sentence. Examples I love eating healthy food. You are so dedicated to your work. We love eating nutritious foods. B. Objective Pronoun Objective pronouns act as the direct object, indirect object or object of the preposition in the sentence. Examples Jenny offers me a refreshment. Christine savedher from drowning.
  6. 6. The pronoun, her, is the direct object in the sentence. It answers the question “who”. It is in third person singular. The gift that arrived is for them. The pronoun, them, is the object of the preposition in the sentence. It is in third person plural. C. Possessive Pronoun Possessive pronouns show ownership or possession. Examples The pencil is mine. The possessive pronoun in the sentence is mine. It states that the pencil is owned by the Speaker. It is in first person singular. The crayons are ours. The possessive pronoun in the sentence is ours. It shows that the speakers owned the Crayons. It is in First person plural. That beautiful voice I heard from the recorder is hers. The possessive pronoun in the sentence is hers. It indicates that a female owns the voice. It is In third person singular. 2. Abstraction Did you understand our lesson? Let’s see. If you really understand, I will ask some questions regarding our lesson today. ________, what is Pronoun? Very good! What are the three cases of Pronouns? Great. Thank you for answering. I’m glad that you really understand our lesson. The gift that arrived is for them. C. Possessive Pronoun Possessive pronouns show ownership or possession. Examples The pencil is mine. The crayons are ours. That beautiful voice I heard from the recorder is hers. Yes, we did. Pronoun is word that replaces noun or noun phrases. The three cases of pronouns are subjective, objective and possessive.
  7. 7. 3. Application At this point we are going to do another activity. I will give you manila papers and then you will be writing 2 sentences under the three cases of Pronouns. Go to your respective group before you start the activity. Is it clear? But let me remind you about our standards in having an activity. 1. Work cooperatively and silently. 2. Keep the workplace clean. 3. Respect each member of the group. You will be graded by the following criteria.
