OREGON DAIRY & NUTRITION COUNCIL

Fuel
Up
to
Play
60:
Fuel
up
to
play
60
encourages
YOU
to
“fuel
up”
with
low-‐fat
and
fat-‐
free
dairy,
fruits,
vegetables,
and
whole
grains
and
to
“get
up
and
play”
for
at
least
60
minutes
a
day!

NUTRITION SERIVICES
“Did
you
know
the
food
that
you
eat
can
affect
how
much
energy
you
have
to
play
and
learn?”
If
you
like
to
PLAY
and
be
ACTIVE,
give
me
a
thumbs
up
–
high
in
the
air!
We
all
love
to
play
and
be
active,
but
how
can
we
do
that
unless
we
are
getting
the
right
kind
of
food
to
keep
us
strong
and
healthy?
Fruits
and
vegetables
are
incredible
because
there
are
so
many
different
kinds
and
colors
-‐
each
color
highlights
different
nutrients
that
help
your
body
stay
strong,
alert,
and
healthy.
This
is
why
we
encourage
you
to
EAT
THE
RAINBOW
So,
how
can
you
do
this?
-‐
Aim
for
3
different
colors
of
fruits
and
vegetables
• When
we
mix
our
fruits
and
veggies
with
whole
grains,
protein,
and
low-‐fat
or
fat
free
dairy
–
we
create
the
perfect
meal
to
get
us
ready
to
learn
and
play
–
all
day.
• What
is
one
way
we
can
do
this?
How
about
a
fruit
smoothie!?
o Call
up
student
to
ride
the
smoothie
bike
o While
student
is
blending
the
smoothie
–
have
2
students
read
the
chant
and
encourage
audience
to
follow
as
the
smoothie
is
mixing.

SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
• So
now
that
we’ve
fueled
up
with
all
kinds
of
delicious
foods.
What
are
we
going
to
do
with
all
of
this
energy!?
• What
does
it
mean
to
be
ACTIVE?
(Call
up
the
students
that
dressed
up
to
highlight
what
they
do
to
stay
active
(uniform,
etc.).
o “Raise
your
hand
if
you…”
Play
an
instrument;
ride
a
bike;
walk
to
school;
do
chores
at
home;
play
a
sport;
like
to
dance;
skateboard;
hula
hoop…etc
o These
are
all
wonderful
ways
of
increasing
your
physical
activity
outside
of
school.
How
can
we
be
ACTIVE
at
school?
• Who
in
here
loves
recess?
Can
we
be
ACTIVE
at
recess?
o
I’d
like
to
show
you
something
that
will
help
you
“Ramp
Up
for
Recess”
–
So
for
starters
-‐
We
have
a
game
to
play.
I’m
going
to
call
up
a
team
of
demonstrators
and
it’s
your
job
to
GUESS
which
play
works
game
they
are
playing.
o Call
up
the
students
that
will
demonstrate
the
game
