MATE SELECTION
• It is the act of choosing a suitable romantic
partner. It is also referred to as the process of
finding the ideal partner amongst many eligible.
• Mate selection is that point that people want to
individuate from their families and form
romantic relationships.

Process of Mate Selection in
Traditional & Modern Society
• When we see people, we filter them as either
being in or out of our pool of eligible. Filtering is
the process of identifying those we interact with
as either being in or out of our pool of people
we might consider to be a date or mate.
