BIOGRAPHY:
• Born 31 October 1995 in London.
• Belonged to lower middle class family.
• Eldest of 5 siblings.
• Father’s name was Thomas Keats and Mother’s name was Francis
Keats.
• He was raised at his Grandmother’s house.
• Fanny Brownie.
• He died of tuberculosis at the age of 25.
• The place where he lived at the time of his death is known as
“Keats- Shelley House”. This is for a literary pilgrimage with
the library of English literature.
• Now, many critics believe that “He is with Shakespeare”.
AS A POET:
• First mythological poet.
• 2nd generation poet of romantic period.
• Inspired by Greek art and culture.
• Also was influenced by Geoffrey Chaucer and John Milton.
• Was also highly influenced by Homer and Dante.
• Edmund Spencer inspired him the most among the Elizabethan
poets.
AS A POET:
• He first became joke to the literary world.
• P.B Shelley was the only contemporary poet to accept him.
• Among all the romantic poets, Keats was the last to born and
the first to die.
• Also said to be the most romantic of all the romantic poets.

•Pleasure •Nature •Love •Beauty
•Fancy •Pain •Hellenism
CHARACTERISTICS:
Hellenism was the source of his poetry.
Greek literature.
Greek sculpture and art.
Greek temperament.
Attitude of melancholy.
HIS WORK:
• Hymn to Pan. 1817
• Bacchic Procession.
• O solitude. (1816)
• Poems (1817).
• Endymion 1818- “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”
• Hyperion 1819 (epic poem).
HIS WORK:
• Lamia and other poems, also included hellenic “ode on
Grecian Urn” and “To psyche” in 1820.
• Isabella -1820
• The eve of St Agnes -1820
• The Beautiful Women without Mercy (1880) which was
published after his death.
CONCLUSION:
• Keats believed that “Truth is beauty and beauty is truth”
hence, his poetry if free of any fakeness and pretence and
gives the reader a complete experience of originality and the
essence of Romantic poetry.
