applications SSL for USD 875 million
Canada-based information service provider, MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd (MDA) acquired US-
based communication based applications solution provider Space Systems /Loral for total consideration of
USD 875 million. As per deal agreement, Company will finance the deal through combination of cash,
Prommisory notes and Credit. This acquisition is consistent to company objectives to get stronger presence
in US and to enhance the customer base. MDA, founded in 1969, by Daniel E. Friedmann (CEO), provides
information and operational solutions. Space Systems/Loral, a subsidiary of Loral Space &
Communications, founded in 1957 and led by John Celli (President), provides commercial satellites for
range of services including Internet and mobile communications, Digital audio/Video

US-based mobile telecom operator Sprint Nextel Corp acquires certain business operation of
United States Cellular Corp for USD 480 million
US-based mobile telecom operator Sprint Nextel Corp acquired certain business operation of US-based
wireless telecommunications network United States Cellular Corp for a consideration of USD 480 million.
The deal will include, US Cellular`s 20 MHz of PCS spectrum in the 1900 MHz band in Chicago, Illinois,
Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio operations and 10 MHz of PCS spectrum in St. Louis with 585,000
customers. The deal will enable US cellular to streamline its operations to focus on its core markets. The
deal will allow Sprint to strengthen its operation and expand its PCS spectrum coverage to launch 4G LTE
nationally. US Cellular, founded in 1983 and led by Mary N. Dillon (CEO), operates as wireless
telecommunications network. Sprint, founded in 1937 and led by Dan Hesse (CEO), provides wireless and
wire line telecommunication solutions including data transmission services, location based services;
wireless voice services and wire line data communication services.

Telecom infrastructure firm Dycom Industries acquires all the telecom infrastructure subsidiaries of
Quanta Services Inc
US-based telecommunications infrastructure company Dycom Industries Inc acquired all the telecom
infrastructure subsidiaries of Quanta Services Inc for a total consideration of USD 275 million. The
transaction includes acquisition of Quanta`s subsidiaries that provides specialty contracting services
including engineering, construction, maintenance and installation services to telecommunications providers
in 49 states. The acquisition allows Dycom to expand its customer base, geographic reach as well as
technical service offerings across the US. Dycom, led by Steven Nielsen (CEO), is engaged in providing
specialty contracting services to telecom service providers across the US and Canada. Quanta Services is
a provider of specialized contracting services to the electric power, natural gas and pipeline and
telecommunication industries.

China Unicom acquires fixed-line infrastructure assets of China United Network Communications
Group for CNY 12.2 billion
China-based mobile telecom services provider China Unicom (HK) Ltd acquired China-based fixed line
infrastructure operator Unicom New Horizon Telecommunications from China-based telecom services
provider China United Network Communications Group Co Ltd for a total consideration of CNY 12.2 billion
in cash. According to Unicom the deal will be earning accretive and will help it in expanding its business
operations. The deal will also help China Unicom in streamlining management of its services. China
Unicom, founded in 1994 and led by Chang Xiaobing (Chairman), provides mobile telecommunication
services. China United Network Communications Group, founded in 1994, provides broadband
communications and information services. Unicom New Horizon is a fixed-line network infrastructure
management company.

Shanduka Group acquires minority stake in Nigeria-based mobile telecommunications company
MTN Nigeria from MTN group
South Africa-based investment company Shanduka Group acquired minority stake in Nigeria-based mobile
telecommunications company MTN Nigeria from MTN group for a consideration of USD 335 million. The
transaction was done through Shanduka`s wholly owned subsidiary, Shanduka Telecommunication
Mauritius. The deal is in line with Shanduka`s strategy to invest in key sectors of Africa as well as
expanding its operation in Nigerian market. MTN Nigeria (subsidiary of MTN Group), operates as mobile
operator in Nigeria with 45.64 million active subscribers. MTN group, founded in 1994 and led by RS
Dabengwa (CEO), operates as mobile telecommunications service provider in 21 countries of Africa and
the Middle East. Shanduka, founded in 2011 by Cyril Ramaphosa, operates as an investment company.

Partners in equity and debt financing round
US-based cable and broadband service provider WaveDivision Holdings, LLC has raised USD 1.052 billion
in equity and debt financing round from group of investors including Oak Hill Capital Partners and GI
Partners. The debt portion was led by Deutsche Bank and Wells Fargo. The company intends to utilize the
funding in expanding its services West Coast and expand its sales and marketing efforts. WaveDivision
Holdings, LLC founded in 2002 and led by its CEO Steve Weed is engaged in offering cable TV, high
speed internet and phone services in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Sacramento. It has over
395,000 subscriptions and offers it services under Wave broadband, Wave Business Solutions, Astound
Broadband and Astound Business Solutions. Oak Hill Capital Partners is the US based private equity with
over USD 8.2 billion asset under its management.

from Quay Ventures and Ulster Bank in equity and debt. In conjunction with the investment Brain Kelly of
Quay Venture will join company`s board of directors. The company intends to utilize the funding in
launching wholesale service division and expand its services in Ireland and Europe. Digiweb, Ltd. Founded
in 1997 and led by Group CEO Colm Piercy is engaged in offering full-service national communications and
managed services including nationwide broadband access, residential and business voice telephone
services, enterprise data network, data centre and web hosting services, managed services.
